The popular animated show Rick and Morty, created by Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland, is leaving Netflix soon, much to the disappointment of its fans.
The popular animated show Rick and Morty first aired in 2013 on Adult Swim and has received high praise from critics, earning a 90% score on Rotten Tomatoes over its eight seasons. Recent reports from ComicBook indicate that the series, which follows a quirky scientist and his grandson, will soon be removed from Netflix in many countries.
The popular animated series Rick and Morty, featuring the voices of Chris Parnell, Sarah Chalke, and Spencer Grammer, is leaving Netflix. Starting December 30th, the show will no longer be available in countries like Germany, Greece, India, Italy, Japan, and South Korea. On December 31st, it will also disappear from Netflix in the United Kingdom.
There’s still good news for fans of the show! It will remain available on Netflix in Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, Colombia, the Czech Republic, France, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Russia, and Switzerland. And viewers in the United States can continue to watch Rick and Morty on both HBO Max and Hulu.
Rick and Morty Creator Updates Fans on the Future of the Show
Cartoon Network has announced that Rick and Morty is confirmed for at least 12 seasons, suggesting a long run for the show. The series’ co-creator shared this update at San Diego Comic-Con, revealing that voice recording for Season 9 is complete and Season 10 is currently being written.
Harmon shared that the show is progressing faster than anticipated, leading to some exciting, unpredictable developments. He jokingly admitted to occasionally worrying about how to manage this rapid pace, but ultimately realizes there’s no slowing down the creative momentum.
As a huge Rick and Morty fan, I was so thrilled to hear Harmon talk about Season 10! He said he’s already incredibly excited about some of the episodes they’re working on, but it’s tough because animation takes time. He even joked about wanting to fast-forward time so we could all see how awesome it’s going to be!
Harmon wasn’t sure how listeners would react to the show being so far ahead of current events. He explained that being three years ahead meant they wouldn’t be able to cover things like the Jeffrey Epstein story, or other trending topics. Instead, they aim to create content that remains relevant and interesting for a long time.
Following its debut on Adult Swim in 2013, the show centers around Rick Sanchez, an incredibly intelligent scientist and inventor famous throughout different universes. He’s frequently joined by his grandson, Morty Smith, who helps him on his often wild adventures.
In the United States, you can watch Rick and Morty on HBO Max or Hulu. Outside of the US, it’s available on Netflix, but that will change at the end of December as it will no longer be available in some countries.
