As a seasoned adventurer who’s battled through countless dimensions and faced off against some of the most formidable foes in Honkai: Star Rail, I can confidently say that Rappa is one of my absolute favorites! Her unique playstyle, centered around Break Effect and her transformative abilities, sets her apart from other DPS units.

In the game Honkai: Star Rail, Rappa distinguishes herself as a top-tier Area of Effect (AoE) Break Damage specialist, joining a select group that includes Boothill and Firefly in the role of DPS characters. Her unique power lies in her capacity to dish out substantial Super Break Damage, even surpassing Firefly in this regard, while also offering AoE performance due to her status as an Erudition character. Furthermore, Rappa’s talent allows her to lower the toughness of enemies, regardless of whether they are weak against Imaginary or not, provided one enemy is already broken. This makes her particularly valuable in situations involving large enemy waves, such as Pure Fiction.

When it comes to constructing Rappa, her configuration has similar foundations with Firefly, particularly concerning aspects like Break Effect. Yet, their builds significantly differ when considering factors such as light cone selections and planar embellishment sets. Nevertheless, there are considerable overlaps between these characters regarding the optimal Rappa build in Honkai: Star Rail.

Giving Rappa a “Iron Cavalry Against the Scourge” relic set consisting of four pieces is the optimal choice for amplifying her ability to deal Break Damage upon her release. The two-piece bonus enhances her Break Effect, while the four-piece bonus enables her to inflict even more damage by disregarding enemy defense during Break and Super Break situations, as long as players maintain at least 250% Break Effect, a target easily achieved for her. If acquiring this set with optimal substats proves challenging, the “Thief of Shooting Meteor” set is an excellent alternative, especially since its four-piece bonus increases Break Effect and regenerates energy each time Rappa inflicts a weakness break. This is particularly beneficial in content with numerous enemies, as it facilitates more frequent Ultimate activations, thereby boosting her Break Damage output and Basic Attacks during her Sealform state. Temporarily, players can also combine sets that offer Break Effect with Speed, as Rappa greatly benefits from surpassing the 145 Speed threshold.

For decorative patterns, Rappa’s ideal pick varies from Firefly. Talia: Kingdom of Banditry is her top choice, enhancing her Break Effect, given she can reach a speed of 145. As an alternative, Space Sealing Station is beneficial for those aiming to boost her ATK, targeting over 3200 in combat to escalate her overall damage, including Break DMG. The Forge of the Kalpagni Lantern is more about specific situations, as it necessitates enemies having a pre-existing Fire weakness, which Rappa lacks the ability to induce independently, thus making it less universally beneficial compared to a character like Firefly.

When it comes to character statistics (stats), players should strive for Attack Percentage (ATK%) on the Body and Planar Sphere, Speed boots, and a Break Effect Link Rope as their links. Unlike regular Damage Per Second (DPS) units, Rappa doesn’t need Critical stats, so it’s best to focus on Break Effect > Speed > Attack for optimal performance.

In terms of Rappa’s light cone choices, she’s rather restricted due to her heavy dependence on Break Effect, leaving only a couple of standout options that significantly enhance this ability. Her top pick is her signature move, Ninjutsu Inscription – Dazzling Evilbreaker, boasting an impressive 60% Break Effect at S1 and also generating energy at the start of combat. This light cone also suits Rappa’s playstyle by allowing her to progress with basic attacks, which helps optimize Break damage output. For players looking for a more affordable choice that still prioritizes Break Effect, After the Charmony Fall is an excellent substitute. When fully upgraded, it offers a comparable Break Effect to Rappa’s signature, plus it increases her Speed after using her Ultimate, making it highly compatible with her playstyle.

After the Break Effect, Rappa has other viable light cone options, but they lean more towards attack and utility. Eternal Calculus is her best completely free option, enhancing her attack significantly and increasing her speed when there are more than three enemies, making it a great choice for multi-target fights. For those with freemium access, Night on the Milky Way can be a powerful pick as it boosts Rappa’s attack substantially, although the damage may not align perfectly with her break damage focus. Lastly, Geniuses’ Repose could be an option if fully upgraded to S5, primarily acting as a stat booster with a 32% attack increase. However, its secondary critical damage effect isn’t particularly beneficial for Rappa since she doesn’t rely on critical stats.
