Path of Exile 2's Early Access launch delayed to December 6

As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I can’t help but feel a twinge of disappointment at the news of Path of Exile 2’s Early Access delay. The initial November 15 release date had already been etched into my calendar, and now it seems like I’ll have to wait an extra three weeks. However, as someone who has weathered countless delays in the gaming industry, I understand that sometimes these things are necessary for a better end product.

As a diehard fan, I’m sharing the news that my favorite game developers, Grinding Gear Games, have pushed back the Early Access launch date for Path of Exile 2 from November 15 to December 6. While it may seem like a wait, I’m eagerly anticipating the improved experience that this additional time will bring!

As a gamer, I’ve learned that the hold-up in the release isn’t solely about the game itself, as some might think. Instead, it seems the issue lies within the infrastructure challenges associated with account migration. Game Director Jonathan Rogers shared this update to ensure that “no one loses what they’ve already paid for and no one experiences a broken account.

The announcement video and post can be found below, via Grinding Gear Games.

I regret to inform you, dear fans, that there’s a slight shift in our plans. Due to unforeseen circumstances, we are compelled to postpone the Early Access launch by three weeks. The new target date is set for the 6th of December. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding and patience as we strive to deliver the best possible experience.

Apologies for any inconvenience caused, fellow gamers! Sometimes, we need to unexpectedly adjust our launch schedule due to unforeseen circumstances. Hope you understand and bear with us as we strive to deliver the best gaming experience possible.

It appears there’s been a delay, not because we’re falling behind in the game, but rather due to unexpectedly prolonged server-side infrastructure tasks.

One important commitment we’ve made is ensuring that your microtransactions function seamlessly between Path of Exile 1 and 2. To make this happen, we need to unify the account systems not just for Path of Exile 1 and 2, but also for the console versions.

To ensure no one loses what they’ve already invested and to avoid any disruptions to their accounts, we need to make sure everything is properly set up.

So with that in mind, we have decided to delay.

In approximately four weeks, we’ll be hosting a live broadcast where we’ll delve deep into what you can anticipate during Path of Exile 2’s Early Access. Imagine it as our grandest league reveal yet! We’re thrilled to share insights about the captivating endgame content that our team has been tirelessly developing, and can’t wait to bring you along on this exciting journey.

Until then though, thanks for your support.
