Palworld is likely getting online multiplayer functionality. The game’s developer, Pocketpair, recently trademarked ‘Palworld Online’ along with a new logo.
Palworld, despite some debate about its resemblance to Pokemon and its unusual style, has rapidly gained a large and dedicated fanbase (and is also becoming a collectible card game). Since its early access release, players have been teaming up with friends to, essentially, collect all the creatures and discover everything the game’s expansive world has to offer.
It looks like Palworld is getting a multiplayer boost! The game’s developers, Pocketpair, have trademarked “Palworld Online,” suggesting either a new online version or a significant multiplayer update is on the way.
Palworld Online trademarked by Pocketpair before full release
Pocketpair has applied for a trademark for “Palworld Online” in both South Korea and the United States (April 24th and 27th, respectively), suggesting they are planning a significant expansion of the game’s multiplayer capabilities, possibly even a full-fledged MMO.

It’s still unclear if the upcoming release will be a complete new game or just an update to Palworld. However, considering the game is currently in early access and expected to launch fully this year, it likely will be a major online update integrated within the existing Palworld game.
Palworld already supports multiplayer! Right now, you can play with up to four friends on a personal save or with 32 players on a dedicated server. The developers might increase these limits or release a more polished, official multiplayer version when the game is fully released.
This might be connected to the recently announced mobile version of Palworld, which Krafton is developing. It suggests we could see a Palworld experience with a stronger focus on online play than the initial release.
Fans have mixed reactions, with many speculating this could be an announcement for a new massively multiplayer online game (MMO). One fan put it this way: “It feels like the current game is a single-player experience you can enjoy online, while this new thing sounds like a full-scale MMO.”
One person suggested a game like a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMO) with deep systems for collecting resources and making items, challenging raids and dungeons, and ways to level up and customize your companion creatures – features that aren’t currently found in Pokémon games.
Okay, so it looks like Palworld might be getting a proper online multiplayer mode soon! Whether it’s on mobile, the early access version we’re all playing now, or a brand new game, the developers seem to be letting us team up with our friends. I’m really excited about that – playing with buddies will make the whole experience even better!
