There are several reasons why Stranger than Heaven is a difficult game to discuss. I haven’t been thrilled with recent releases from RGG Studio, like Yakuza 3 Kiwami & Dark Ties and Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut, for a number of reasons. However, I wanted to approach Stranger than Heaven with a fresh perspective. At Summer Game Fest 2026, I had the opportunity to play it myself and get a feel for the developing combat system.

The new Safe Social Media Act would force social media companies to stop 16-year-olds and younger from signing up or using accounts unless the companies can demonstrate their platforms are safe. They’d need to meet updated safety requirements to allow younger users.

Okay, so for a JRPG to really hook me, it needs content that feels worthwhile – no boring side quests that just feel like padding. Everything needs to be genuinely fun! And the gameplay itself, like battles and leveling up, absolutely can’t be a grind. If it feels like a chore, I’ll just stop playing, no matter how good the story is.

As revealed before, the new console versions will support up to 4K 120fps, mouse support on Switch 2, and they will be available digitally separately or as a physical collection with both games. This release is more notable because it will be the first time the PlayStation versions will have the upgraded visuals as opposed to the issues present on PS4.
