Over time, classic movies often spark conversations about how predictions of the future are becoming reality, both shaping and dismantling our world. Older science fiction films, in particular, anticipated things like computers, AI, constant surveillance, predictive policing, sensationalized news, and the increasingly close relationship between government and large corporations. It’s often unsettling how many ideas from these apocalyptic, dystopian, and utopian stories actually come to pass.

Looking back at beloved shows and movies can be surprising. While some truly live up to the hype, it’s common to find that they don’t quite hold up to our memories. Things like outdated visuals, problematic storylines, and disappointing finales often become noticeable when we revisit them. A few of these classics remain worthy of their praise, but others simply feel like relics of a different era.

Curry Barker, known for his work on Obsession, is directing a new take on The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. He recently told Total Film that, as a big fan of the original, he’s committed to honoring it while also bringing something fresh to the story. He wants to make a film that feels both new and familiar to longtime fans.

I’ve played a lot of superhero games, and it’s a shame so many just fade away. Honestly, even the older, less popular ones deserve to be remembered and given another shot. It bugs me when good games get totally forgotten!

In his memoir, Putting the Rabbit in the Hat, Cox explained he rejected the role because the pay was too low and the character died early in the first season, meaning he wouldn’t have the opportunity to earn more in later seasons if the show had continued.

Apex is a thrilling survival drama on Netflix. Charlize Theron stars as Sasha, a troubled rock climber hunted in the wilderness by a serial killer named Ben, played by Taron Egerton. The film, directed by Baltasar Kormákur, forces Sasha to use all her skills to survive with very limited resources.

I’m so excited – they’re actually making a new live-action Scooby-Doo movie! Production is happening right now in Atlanta, and we’re getting our first glimpses of the cast in character. Just Jared just posted some set photos, and I got a look at Tanner Hagen as Shaggy, rocking that iconic green shirt! He was filming a scene with another actor, possibly outside Shaggy’s house or even the school. It’s starting to feel real!

This is a list of recent, must-see movies that are filmed entirely or mostly in black and white. We’re only including films that were originally released in theaters in black and white – so, for example, a movie like The Mist which only had a black and white version available on DVD doesn’t make the cut.

The last movie featuring the original cast, Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, perfectly captured the spirit of Star Trek. It portrayed the crew facing a changing galaxy while grappling with the end of their careers. When Kirk and McCoy were imprisoned by the Klingons, the crew found themselves relying on outdated paper dictionaries to communicate, as proper translation technology wasn’t available. Interestingly, Uhura demonstrates a much stronger grasp of the Klingon language in this film than she previously had, and there’s a logical reason for this improvement.

I really enjoy Gen V, so I was looking forward to seeing those characters interact with the cast of The Boys in the final season of the main show. While the season finale of Gen V wasn’t great, it hinted at a cool crossover between the two groups. That’s why it was frustrating to get more than halfway through The Boys‘ last season without even a glimpse of the Gen V characters.
