Paddington, the beloved bear, is returning to cinemas for a new film after a wild adventure getting lost in the Peruvian jungle.
Paddington Bear is a beloved character created by British author Michael Bond. He first appeared in 1958 and has since been featured in many books, TV shows, plays, and movies. A new series of films began in 2014, with Ben Whishaw providing the voice for Paddington. The third film, released in 2024, sees the Peruvian bear travel back to his native country to learn more about his family and where he came from.
Studio Canal announced at CinemaCon that a fourth Paddington movie is officially being made. Currently, not much is known about the new film.
The Paddington movies have been a huge success, earning over $700 million around the world. The films have also drawn in many famous actors, including Nicole Kidman, Hugh Grant, Olivia Colman, Antonio Banderas, and Sally Hawkins. Hawkins plays Mary Brown in the first two films, the wife of Hugh Bonneville’s character, Henry Brown, and the mother figure in the family that welcomes Paddington after he arrives in the UK from Peru.
Paddington’s chaotic but heartwarming adventures usually start at the Brown family’s house. However, the third movie took him on his largest journey yet – back to his homeland of Peru. Paddington in Peru also featured a new actress, Emily Mortimer, taking over the role of Mrs. Brown. The film was a big success, earning $211 million around the world.
After returning to London with his family and some new bear friends from his birthplace in Peru, Paddington’s latest adventure concluded. Hugh Grant reprises his role as Phoenix Buchanan from the second film. While details aren’t confirmed, the next Paddington movie will probably be set in London again, and it’s uncertain if Hugh Grant will be back as Buchanan.
While the full cast isn’t confirmed yet, Ben Whishaw is likely to return as the voice of Paddington, as his unique performance is central to the character. The series has seen cast changes before, but the Brown family, who are essential to Paddington’s story, are also expected to be involved in a fourth film.
