It’s become something of a running joke that the notoriously bad video game, Cory in the House, is almost as popular with players as the critically-panned Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. Surprisingly, unopened copies of the game are now selling online for hundreds of dollars.
Lots of copies of the Nintendo DS game are available on eBay, with prices anywhere from $50 to over $1,400. One particular listing has already received 44 bids and is currently at $1,025.
A strange trend is happening online, starting with Metacritic’s list of top games as rated by users. Currently, the game Clair Obscur, named Game of the Year in 2025, is at the top with a 9.6 score. However, as a joke, people have boosted the user score for the Disney Channel show Cory in the House to a 9.3, putting it surprisingly close to critically acclaimed titles like The Witcher 3, Metal Gear Solid 3, and the original Silent Hill 2.

Cory in the House, which premiered in 2008 alongside popular games like Grand Theft Auto 4, Fallout 3, and Dead Space, is based on the Disney Channel series it shares a name with.
In this game, you play as Cory Baxter, the son of the White House chef from the popular TV show That’s So Raven. The story follows Cory as he tries to stop a villainous toymaker from using special bobbleheads of the President to hypnotize everyone in Washington, D.C.
Like many games based on TV shows at the time, the Nintendo DS game received poor reviews. Surprisingly, it gained a following years later, with people ironically celebrating it as a hidden gem and playfully comparing the show to anime. Essentially, Cory in the House has become known as a so-bad-it’s-good title, similar to the movie Morbius.
It’s unclear whether anyone will actually buy this controversial game for such inflated prices, or if Metacritic will step in to stop the increasing trend. For now, we can only watch and see how much the price continues to climb.
