One Punch Man Season 3 trailers have fans divided for one major reason

A short preview for the third season of One Punch Man is out, and while many anime fans are thrilled, some have expressed disappointment with what they’ve seen.

Ever since the first season of One Punch Man ended, fans have been discussing the changes behind the scenes. A new director, Chikara Sakurai, took over from Shingo Natsume, and the animation studio switched from Madhouse to J.C.Staff.

After a four-year wait, Season 2 of the series premiered in 2019 but received criticism for not living up to the quality of the first season. Similar concerns are now surfacing about the upcoming Season 3, and the new director, Shinpei Nagai, has asked fans to stop harassing the creative team.

But that hasn’t stopped complaints, with attention now turning to a new teaser trailer.

The new preview is mostly still images and doesn’t currently have English subtitles. This has some fans concerned, especially with the premiere of One Punch Man Season 3 scheduled for October 5, 2025.

One Reddit user reacted to the new trailer by saying that anyone expecting a good result from J.C.Staff is being unrealistic.

The trailers released so far have mostly featured still images with characters speaking, and the only action footage we’ve seen is from the Garou fight – a scene that’s over a year old. They keep re-using this same clip instead of showing us new content to build excitement.

Someone wondered how long it had been, and another person suggested the movie needed a lengthy trailer showing exciting moments.

Someone commented on YouTube, “People are dismissing this as just a minor scene and telling others to calm down, which is understandable. However, so far, that’s *all* we’ve seen.”

I’m mainly seeing static shots or scenes with very little action. With the release date less than a month away, I’m not expecting top-tier animation, but I’d appreciate *some* improvement, honestly.

However, many fans are coming to the show’s defense. One commenter pointed out that Season 2 was produced very quickly, in just six months, and released during a year when the studio, J.C.Staff, was already working on six other anime series.

The production of One Punch Man seems to be improving. With more time dedicated to it, and as one of three currently running series from J.C.Staff, we’re already noticing enhancements in the art style, coloring, and overall post-production quality. While Season 2’s animation was generally good, the fight between Garou and Metal Bat was a noticeable weak point.

Even with similar animation quality, and standard editing and sound, the show should be enjoyable. It won’t be as good as the first season, but it will still be worth watching.

Someone else added, “What options do we even have? Should I protest in Japan from another country? I’m just a fan of *One Punch Man*, and after waiting five years, I really just want to see the show. Honestly, as long as it doesn’t look terrible, I’ll be happy with it.”

Someone else chimed in, saying there’s no need to be completely negative, and another pointed out that the team has been developing Season 3 for nearly two years, so things are likely looking good.
