Players who were cheating in Counter-Strike 2 recently faced a shock: Valve suddenly removed nearly all cheats and automated bot programs from the game.
Gabe Follower has pointed out a surge in reports from gamers about cancelled matches and account bans issued by VAC Live. It seems even subtle cheating methods, like using external drives to load cheats (often called DMA), are now being detected.
Valve quietly updated their systems overnight on September 12th, and it appears to be targeting creators of cheats for CS2. Reports suggest that the update also aimed to shut down services that create and sell in-game items, often called ‘crate farms’.
It’s clear these reports have caused a lot of excitement. Cheating is a major issue in all online multiplayer games, and developers are constantly fighting against cheat creators. It’s difficult to say who has the upper hand, especially in popular games like *Counter-Strike*. Since the new version came out, players have been strongly requesting and even demanding that something be done about cheaters.
Valve seems to have cracked down on cheaters, and the reaction online has been huge. Many people are sharing their disbelief, happiness, and disdain for those who were using cheats and have now lost access.
Not everyone is convinced this will solve the problem. Some believe the recent ban wave is only temporary, and cheaters will eventually find ways around it. However, even those who are skeptical agree that it’s the most significant action Valve has ever taken against cheating.
Players are currently hoping the game stays free of cheating programs like aimbots and wallhacks for the foreseeable future. Only time will tell how long that lasts.
