Nvidia is apparently planning to resume production of the GeForce RTX 3060 graphics card, despite previously stating that existing stock was all that would be available.
Nvidia is adjusting its plans for new desktop graphics cards due to difficulties getting the necessary components for its RTX 50 series. Production is being reduced, and there’s a shortage of memory chips, which is impacting the company’s supply.
The RTX 3060 first came out in February 2021 and quickly became a popular choice for gamers building mid-range PCs, including both the standard RTX 3060 and the more powerful RTX 3060 Ti versions.
RTX 3060 revival reportedly tied to 50 series and RAM shortages
The expected schedule for NVIDIA’s graphics cards seems to be shifting. According to a reliable source, NVIDIA has informed its partners that it intends to restart production of the RTX 3060 in the first quarter of 2026 – surprisingly soon after reports suggested they were discontinuing it. It’s currently unclear if this applies to the original 12GB version of the card, the 8GB version released later, or both.

Nvidia is reportedly increasing its attention on the RTX 3060 because production of its newer RTX 50 series is being scaled back. A recent report suggests that RTX 50 production could be cut by as much as 40% in early 2026, mainly due to a shortage of the latest VRAM and problems with the supply chain.
The RTX 3060 uses older GDDR6 memory, which could make it simpler and more affordable to manufacture, especially with predictions of rising prices for the newer GDDR7 technology. Getting the higher-end RTX 50 series cards, on the other hand, is already proving difficult for suppliers.
Upcoming game consoles, such as the PlayStation 6 and the next Xbox, could face delays of two or more years due to a shortage of RAM, the type of computer memory they need.
