New McDonald’s meal comes with a miniature NHL hockey stick

McDonald’s Canada is celebrating hockey season with a special NHL Star Sticks Meal, created in partnership with the NHL and NHL Players’ Association. The meal will be available for a limited time starting March 3rd.

This new promotion expands on the 2025 campaign by offering a collectible mini stick with every meal purchase, alongside the return of a special burger created just for this offer.

Okay, I’m so excited about this! They’ve got a new Hockey Hero Burger, which sounds amazing, and even cooler, they’re releasing collectible NHL Star Sticks featuring some of the biggest names in the league – Connor McDavid, Auston Matthews, Macklin Celebrini, Quinn Hughes, Cale Makar, Samuel Montembeault, and Sam Reinhart! It’s a dream lineup for any hockey fan like me.

McDonald’s Canada points out that miniature hockey sticks were previously available in Canada almost twenty years ago, and this new collection is meant to be a refreshed take on that popular collectible.

McDonald’s Canada launches NHL Star Sticks Meal with Hockey Hero Burger

Starting March 3rd, McDonald’s Canada is offering the NHL Star Sticks Meal at participating restaurants across the country, but it’s only available for a limited time while supplies last.

The NHL Star Sticks Meal comes with medium World Famous Fries (made with 100% Canadian potatoes), a medium fountain drink, and an NHL Star Stick, along with your choice of main course.

For your main course, you can choose from the Hockey Hero Burger (available for a limited time), a 10-piece Chicken McNuggets, a Big Mac, a McVeggie, or a Spicy McVeggie.

The Hockey Hero Burger from McDonald’s Canada features three all-Canadian beef patties, crisp lettuce, smoky bacon, cheese, and a mayo-style sauce, all served on a toasted bun.

Connor McDavid, widely regarded as the world’s top hockey player, announced a new partnership with McDonald’s, promising fans a fun, miniature hockey experience.

Olympic hockey champion and Toronto Maple Leafs player Auston Matthews said the NHL Star Sticks are a fun collectible for hockey fans, offering a small memento of the game.

McDonald’s Canada’s marketing chief, Francesca Cardarelli, explained that the new NHL Star Sticks Meal is designed to let hockey fans collect cards featuring their favorite players and enjoy a classic McDonald’s burger. She emphasized that the meal is a fun way to celebrate hockey and that McDonald’s is proud to be the official hamburger of the NHL and NHLPA in Canada.

This announcement follows recent changes at McDonald’s Canada, including a special meal created with Drake’s OVO, the addition of Franks Red Hot to their sandwiches, and the introduction of poutine to the breakfast menu.
