Over the next 3-6 months, NEAR, the NEAR Protocol at Layer-1, intends to recruit AI engineering specialists to develop user-controlled artificial intelligence solutions.

Based on a presentation by NEAR co-founder Illia Polosukhin during a recent virtual town hall meeting, CoinDesk reported that the company intends to recruit AI engineers imminently. Meanwhile, its product team is in the process of mapping out AI projects to be implemented within the next 3-6 months as part of a transition phase.
The intersection of AI and blockchain remains a popular and heated discussion, with NEAR aiming to lead the way. Last month, Polosukhin participated in Nvidia’s “Transforming AI” panel, causing the NEAR token to nearly double in value in preparation for the event.
The company has a great deal of experience in the field of artificial intelligence. Polosukhin is both a researcher and engineer specializing in AI and software development. Together, they helped create the “Transformer” system architecture, which serves as the foundation for AI applications such as ChatGPT that generate text.
According to the presentation, NEAR will utilize near.ai for providing AI-related information, and they will make a public announcement about this in May.
The not-for-profit and decentralized nature of NEAR sets it apart, allowing it to champion AI as open source more effectively than for-profit companies. Instead of relying on revenue growth, NEAR’s token economy generates value within an open and permissionless ecosystem.
Over the past few months, NEAR has been advocating for its “chain simplification” approach, which is designed to enhance the user experience in cryptocurrency by streamlining the challenges that come with using multiple chains. Artificial intelligence (AI) will contribute significantly to NEAR’s mission by expediting development and making it more accessible, as suggested in a deck obtained by CoinDesk.
