Some players in NBA The Run aren’t available when you first start the game. Here’s how to unlock them:
- Shen Tong – Reach Rank 5
- Destiny Jackson – Reach Rank 15
- El Gigante – Reach Rank 25
- Spin Cycle – Reach Rank 35
- Bobbito Garcia – Reach Rank 45
- LeBron James ’03 – Purchase for 5,000 Cred in the Shop
- Stephen Curry ’09 – Purchase for 5,000 Cred in the Shop OR Deluxe Edition Bonus
- Kevin Durant ’07 – Purchase for 5,000 Cred in the Shop OR Deluxe Edition Bonus
- Luka Doncic ’18 – Purchase for 5,000 Cred in the Shop OR Deluxe Edition Bonus

NBA The Run Rank, Explained
First, the top five characters on this list aren’t NBA players, and you unlock them simply by playing the game. You’ll earn these characters as you reach different ranks. To see your current rank, go to the Profile section – it will automatically take you to the page showing what you’ve unlocked.
As a huge fan of NBA The Run, I’m really excited about the ranking system! You can always check your current rank right here to see where you stand. And it’s awesome because there are 50 ranks total with rewards to unlock as you climb. What’s really cool is that five of those rewards are actually playable characters – each one has different stats, so they all feel unique when you’re playing the game. It adds a whole new level of customization and fun!
To improve your Rank in NBA The Run, just play the game and earn XP. The further you advance in tournaments, the more XP you’ll receive. Earning more XP unlocks better Rank rewards.
Earning Cred
As you play and improve your rank, you’ll earn Cred, which is the in-game currency used to unlock items in the Shop. You can spend Cred on things like taunts, outfits, and badges, but also on new players. Each player costs 5,000 Cred, so collecting all the throwback NBA players will require a total of 25,000 Cred.
If you purchased the Deluxe Edition, you’ll get special Rookie versions of Steph Curry, Luka Doncic, and Kevin Durant. You’ll also start with 1,000 Cred, which will give you a head start on collecting more players.
This simplifies things – you’ll only have to unlock the rookie versions of LeBron and SGA to collect all the players. Just like the non-NBA players, these rookie cards have unique stats of their own.
