As a huge fan of ‘My Dress-Up Darling,’ I was so excited to see Marin Kitagawa featured on a real GT3 race car! It’s amazing to see the series hitting the racetrack – she looks incredible!
I was so excited to see the new, customized Mercedes-AMG GT3! It was revealed on April 16th, and then it actually raced at Suzuka Circuit for the second round of the ENEOS Super Taikyu Series – it’s a really big endurance race over in Japan, and it was awesome to see the car in action.
The new collaboration, with a style inspired by anime, aims to boost tourism and awareness of the Iwatsuki district in Saitama prefecture.
The anime is set in Iwatsuki, a real city where Marin first encounters Wakana Gojo, the traditional doll craftsman who is a central character in the story.
Iwatsuki is famous throughout Japan as the “city of dolls,” and this racing car partnership is designed to celebrate that history. What better way to do that than by featuring the series’ most popular character on a stunning vehicle?
My Dress-Up Darling heads to the racetrack
The car’s hood features a large, vibrant illustration of Marin dressed as a “Race Queen.” It’s painted a bright pink, with black and white details and sponsor logos adding contrast.
The design from Marin extends to the doors and back panels, and includes the number 23 and “ST-X” markings. The phrase “#DressUpDollAnime” is displayed on the car’s exterior, and blue detailing on the front bumper and mirrors provides a contrast to the predominantly pink color scheme.
The car featuring the Marin paint scheme will race for the first time at Suzuka Circuit from April 18th to 19th as part of Round 2 of the ENEOS Super Taikyu Series, a major endurance race in Japan. The TKRI racing team will compete in the ST-X class, which is the highest level of competition for GT3 cars.
My Dress-Up Darling isn’t the only anime making an impact in the racing world. The characters from Umamusume recently appeared on a high-performance BMW race car, and earlier in March, the Formula 1 team Williams announced a partnership with the anime Dan Da Dan.
