MUG Root Beer is expanding into the health and fitness world with a new drink that combines the taste of their classic soda with added protein.
PepsiCo’s MUG soda is partnering with NFL player George Kittle to launch MUG Brotein, a new drink you make yourself by mixing MUG Zero Sugar with a vanilla protein shake.
This launch comes at a time when fitness is hugely popular on social media, with many brands sharing high-protein recipes and workout content.
MUG Brotein bundle drops with gym gear and protein mix
MUG Brotein is a unique take on protein shakes, combining the taste of soda with a classic shake to create a sweeter, more indulgent drink.
A special bundle will be available starting April 22nd on Walmart’s website. More will be released on TikTok Shop through the brand’s official account on April 28th.
Every bundle comes with MUG Zero Sugar, a vanilla protein shake, and cool gym gear – including a shaker bottle, gym bag, and tank top.
Look, as an athlete, keeping track of my protein intake is just part of the job. But honestly, I’m a huge MUG Root Beer fan and I need my floats. So when MUG came out with Brotein, it was a total game-changer. It seriously combines everything I love, and the funny thing is, I wish I’d thought of it myself a long time ago!
Michael Smith, VP of Marketing for the brand, explained that MUG is designed for passionate fans. The collaboration with George Kittle on MUG Brotein aims to bring that enthusiastic energy to fitness routines, offering a tasty and enjoyable way to achieve fitness goals.
If you weren’t able to get the initial release, MUG assures customers the ingredients will be easy to find. MUG Zero Sugar and vanilla protein shakes will be available at popular stores like Kroger and Albertsons, and you can also order them online from Walmart and Instacart.
MUG isn’t the first to make a ‘dirty soda’ – Pepsi, Mountain Dew, and Mike’s Hard Lemonade are all planning to release their own versions in 2026.
