We’re covering every episode of Love Island USA! With about a million episodes per season, you can find our recaps here. We post a recap of each weekday episode the next morning, and a summary of everything that happened over the weekend every Monday.
Like I was saying, people are going to pursue who they’re attracted to, and no amount of effort from viewers to pair them up will change that. During the latest recoupling, everyone got to choose their own partner, except for Caleb and Sol, who were put together as a last resort couple. Surprisingly, the public gets to vote for them as their favorite, even though they weren’t a natural pairing. We don’t know for sure what will happen based on the votes, but usually the couples with the fewest votes are in danger of being eliminated. This means Caleb and Sol could still be saved if fans vote for them.
Things move quickly here in the villa, and it’s only been a few minutes since the last recoupling! Tonight, Love Island brought back a fun challenge with giant mailboxes – Zach seems to think they’re how mailboxes look in America. It’s similar to a challenge we saw last year, but much kinder. The Islanders each wrote a love letter to the person they want to be with, and those letters were put in the recipient’s mailbox. If someone doesn’t receive any letters, it means no one wants to couple up with them, which is a little like getting no Valentines in grade school.
Most of the couples paired up as expected: Jen with Gabe, Zach with Kayda, Aniya with KC, and Trinity with Bryce. The letters they wrote to each other varied in how well they were written. Aniya’s letter made KC cry, and I’m starting to root for Trinity and Bryce, especially after Bryce’s surprisingly candid opening line about their first kiss. Sol, Sincere, Caleb, Kenzie, Melanie, and Corbin are still the unpredictable ones, although Sincere ended up with Melanie and Corbin with Kenzie, leaving Caleb and Sol to pair up as the only option.
Overall, I’m happy with how things are progressing. It’s good to see everyone coupled up with who they want, and we finally saw some genuine feelings from the Islanders – especially from Jen and Gabe. My only issue is that Caleb and Sol are still in the villa. While they seem like good people, after not succeeding as new arrivals, shouldn’t they have been eliminated or at least left without a partner? It makes you wonder how many second chances a bombshell gets. And honestly, I can’t get over how unfairly Bea was treated, even with everything happening between Jen and Gabe.
What is going on with Kayda and Zach?
From the start, it was clear things were getting complicated between Zach and Kayda. Zach nervously asked Kayda if she’d be upset he kissed another girl, but surprisingly, Kayda seemed more confident than ever, even asking him if he enjoyed kissing her. She was thrilled after the recent recoupling. However, with Casa Amor just around the corner, it feels like we’re heading for drama, especially since Zach is already considering writing to another woman, Bryce.
At first, Zach was head over heels for Kayda. Now that she feels the same way, though, I think he’s starting to feel restless. He’s still writing her letters, but the fact that he’s cramming a lot of his thoughts into short notes makes me doubt how invested he really is. I have a feeling Casa Amor will really test their connection.
America can’t break up the great love that is Corbin and Kenzie
Although Corbin and Melanie shared a romantic evening, including a kiss, it became clear things weren’t serious when Corbin went out of his way to make a heart-shaped pancake specifically for Kenzie the next morning.
Kenzie told Caleb she’s interested in deepening their relationship, and even playfully suggested watching him repair an elevator could be attractive. However, I’ve seen her be much more affectionate, so this felt pretty tame. Meanwhile, Corbin is hesitant to write his letter to Kenzie, only because he’s worried Melanie will overreact – he believes she’ll cry and threaten to leave if she isn’t chosen, which I think is unfair to Kenzie.
Kenzie was happy, though not surprised, to find two letters in her mailbox. One was a kind note from Caleb, and the other, from Corbin, expressed his belief that their connection was worth fighting for. Meanwhile, Caleb checked his mailbox and found nothing – Kenzie had already sent her letter to Corbin.
Kenzie told Corbin she really misses spending time with him, but that she misses him even more. Now they’re officially back together, and Corbin celebrated by saying their relationship is strong enough to withstand any outside drama. As for anyone still hoping he’d end up with Melanie, it’s clear that wasn’t meant to be – Melanie didn’t reach out to him either.
Melanie and Sincere are back on their rollercoaster
It’s hard not to feel sorry for Sol. He spent all morning talking about how honest and connected he is with Sincere, and how much reassurance he’d been giving her. But then, at the end of the day, he went right back to the person he truly desires.
Sincere found two letters in his mailbox, one from Sol and one from Melanie. Sol’s letter was a rhyming poem, while Melanie’s was a lengthy, heartfelt account of their shared experiences over the past two weeks. Sincere genuinely seems to believe he’s always honest, but he’s been expressing his feelings to both Sol and Melanie, so they both have reason to feel hopeful right now.
Honestly, when Sol checked her mailbox and it was empty, she claimed it was just a ‘woman’s intuition’ telling her this would happen. But I think she overheard Melanie practically shouting to Kayda about what Sincere had said at the speakeasy – that’s what really tipped her off. Still, I’m rooting for Sol and Caleb! Hopefully, America will vote for them as their favorite couple – there’s still a chance!
