League of Legends is introducing a system to quickly end games where a player is intentionally disrupting the experience, and only that player will face the consequences.
Experienced players of competitive games know how frustrating it is when a teammate intentionally sabotages the match, essentially ruining the game for everyone. This isn’t a problem unique to Riot Games, and it’s become so widespread that some websites are now even paying players to lose games – not just in League of Legends, but also in other popular titles like Marvel Rivals and Overwatch.
So, Riot’s finally addressing something a lot of us have been complaining about! They just announced a new feature in their latest developer update, and honestly, the community has a lot to say about it – good and bad, of course. Everyone’s chiming in!
League of Legends players will soon be able to vote to end games ruined by griefers
During the later part of Season 2, if the game recognizes a player is intentionally losing – for example, by getting rid of all their possessions, constantly running towards opponents, or disrupting the game in other ways – their teammates will have the choice to give up and end the match without penalty.
The player who caused the problem doesn’t get a say in the outcome. If the report is successful, players on the reporting team won’t lose any Ranked Points (LP). The team that reported the player will gain LP as if they won a regular game. However, the player who broke the rules, and anyone they played with, will lose LP and also receive an additional penalty.

Not all players were enthusiastic about the new feature. Some were concerned it might cause games to end prematurely, as matches that start poorly can often turn around. Others worried that good players could be unfairly penalized if a struggling teammate ruined the game for the whole team.
However, those worries aren’t entirely accurate. Players on the same team as someone who breaks the rules don’t lose any League Points (LP), and their hidden skill rating remains unchanged. Riot developer Chris Roberts clarified this, stating, “You don’t lose MMR [Matchmaking Rating] if this happens.”
Nah you don’t lose MMR if this happens.

Riot has not announced a specific patch date, saying only the feature arrives “in a few patches.”
