In the upcoming version 3.4 of Honkai: Star Rail, Phainon is almost ready to join the roster of playable characters, known as Chrysos Heirs. While details about his abilities (kit) are still scant from official sources, they have confirmed that he follows the Destruction path and uses Physical element. However, leaks from trusted sources like HomDGCat have provided a sneak peek into his loaded kit and animations. Phainon is one of three new damage dealers entering Honkai: Star Rail. As he follows in the footsteps of the powerful and widely-adored Castorice, players are eager to see how he’ll fit within the game’s strategy (meta).
In the latest update of HSR, version 3.2, it’s been revealed that Phainon will join the roster of playable characters. He’s expected to be one of the featured characters in version 3.4. However, leaks from pre-release content suggest what Phainon’s abilities might entail before his official launch. If these leaks are accurate, it appears that Phainon’s gameplay revolves around stacking charges for his ultimate move, which triggers a transformation, granting him new skills such as a potent counterattack.
Phainon Could Bring Back Destruction Dominance in Honkai: Star Rail’s Remembrance Meta
At this point in time, the details about Phainon’s skills in ‘Honkai: Star Rail’ are derived from leaked pre-release data. It’s important to note that players might encounter substantial alterations when the character officially debuts.
Phainon’s Leaked Kit Explained
In Phainon’s skill set, known as “Pyric Corpus,” each time he is targeted by an ability, whether it be from an ally or an enemy, it accumulates energy. This stored energy enhances his Critical Damage output and contributes towards charging up his ultimate ability. His ultimate, when activated, triggers a transformation and the deployment of a Territory. During this transformed state, Phainon becomes immune to crowd control, his teammates withdraw from the battlefield, all opponents become vulnerable to Physical attacks, and Phainon remains on the field.
In this revised version, irregular twists will replace standard ones. Moreover, these unique twists take precedence in the sequence of actions and halt the decrease of status effects. This mechanism is particularly beneficial for preserving his pre-final form boosts, such as the “The Beatified” buff from Sunday, even after other team members exit the battlefield. Among his advanced abilities (at Trace Level 10), you’ll find:
- Enhanced Basic ATK – Creation: Bloodthorn Ferry: Phainon deals 250% of his ATK to one enemy, and blasts 75% of his ATK to adjacent opponents. He also gains two stacks of “Scourge,” which he will use in favor of skill points. Phainon can hold up to six of these marks.
- Enhanced Skill – Calamity: Soulscorch Edict: Phainon gains Scourge stacks equal to the number of enemies present, and causes them to immediately act. He gains a stack of “Soulrending Blaze” after every attack, which improves his counterattack damage. After all opponents have taken their action, Phainon retaliates by dealing 40% of his ATK to all of them, and deals four instances of DMG equal to 30% of his ATK.
- Enhanced Skill – Foundation: Stardeath Verdict: Phainon lets meteors rain from the sky, causing damage based on his consumed Scourge stacks, which deal four instances of 45% of his ATK each. If there are four Scourge stacks used, he deals an additional 450% ATK hit to all opponents.
Phainon’s “Scourge” attack could alternatively be referred to as “Bruise” or “Ruin,” given the multiple interpretations of his leaked equipment by various translators and interpreters. However, the official name for this attack has not been disclosed officially so far.
Phainon is Shaping Up to be Another Overpowered Destruction Unit
In a similar vein to more recent Destruction units like Mydei and Firefly, Phainon pushes boundaries by establishing his domain and accumulating numerous self-enhancements and potent additional skills. His Stardeath Verdict can inflict over a million points of damage, while his extra turns make him a priority in the turn sequence. In his ultimate state, Soulscorch Edict serves as an area counterattack that surpasses Yunli and Clara’s counters in terms of damage and ensures he takes enemy attacks. With the upcoming HSR 3.4 update, Phainon is poised to challenge Castorice for the title of top damage dealer, unless Saber or Archer have something to contest it.
