As a crypto investor with a few years of experience under my belt, I can’t help but feel a mix of emotions upon reading about Pink Drainer’s retirement announcement. On one hand, relief washes over me as the news that this notorious scam-as-a-service operation is finally coming to an end is certainly welcome. However, the realization that millions of dollars have been stolen from innocent victims and that these funds may be irrecoverable is a sobering reminder of the risks inherent in the crypto space.
As a researcher studying the digital asset sector, I’ve come across the notorious figure known as “Pink Drainer,” who has caused significant damage with their scam-as-a-service schemes, stealing millions in the process. However, it seems that Pink Drainer intends to cover their tracks and dismantle their criminal infrastructure. They have publicly declared their plans for winding down their nefarious operations.
Surprisingly, Pink Drainer, the notorious tool infamous for draining cryptocurrency wallets, declared its intent to retire through a message on Telegram. This decision was made following Pink Drainer’s announcement that it had achieved its objective.
- In their final message, Pink Drainer’s developers also said they have no plans to return. They added that any messages purporting to be from them should be treated with suspicion unless they are verified by specific wallet signatures (0x636/0x9fa).
- The Pink Drainer’s dev note shared by the on-chain sleuth, ZachXBT on Telegram revealed,
“Reaching our objective as planned, it’s now time for us to depart. Following the dissemination of this announcement, we will gradually dismantle all our systems. Any data we have accumulated will be permanently deleted and appropriately discarded.”
- The development was further confirmed by blockchain security company PeckShield which notified the departure, while also pointing out that the Pink Drainer addresses had deposited a total of up to 18.1 million DAI into the DeFi lending protocol Spark, which represents approximately 1.35% of the total sDAI tokens.
- This alarming revelation meant that Pink Drainer was one of the largest sDAI holders, as per PeckShield.
- According to ScamSniffer data, Pink Drainer has stolen over $85 million in cryptocurrency from more than 21,000 victims over the past year.
