After a two-year hiatus, Netflix released the latest season of its popular mystery series. The new episodes quickly became a hit, drawing a large number of viewers on the streaming service in just one day.
The second season of A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder launched on May 27th, and all six episodes are now available to stream. It’s quickly gaining popularity, currently ranking as the 8th most popular show on Netflix worldwide, according to data from FlixPatrol. The show has made it into the Top 10 charts in numerous countries, including the US, Canada, Italy, France, and Romania. This new season is a successful return after a nearly two-year gap since the first season premiered in the summer of 2024.
Season 2 Has a Near-Perfect RT Audience Score
Season 2 is receiving very positive reviews. Its score on Rotten Tomatoes is 86%, which is 3% higher than the first season. Viewers especially love it, giving it a near-perfect audience score of 97% – a significant jump from the 68% rating Season 1 received. These strong numbers increase the chances of A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder being renewed for a third season, though Netflix hasn’t made an official announcement yet.
This series is based on a book by Holly Jackson. Poppy Cogan wrote the screenplay for the Netflix adaptation. Emma Myers, known for her role in Wednesday, stars as Pippa “Pip” Fitz-Amobi, alongside Zain Iqbal (All Crazy Random), Asha Banks (The Magic Flute), Yali Topol Margalith (House of David), Henry Ashton (My Lady Jane), Carla Woodcock (Such Brave Girls), Gary Beadle (Nandor Fodor and the Talking Mongoose), and Anna Maxwell Martin (Line of Duty).
Season 2 will also feature new cast members including Peter Sullivan, known for The Iris Affair; Lu Corfield from In My Skin; Jack Rowan, who starred in A Town Called Malice; Misia Butler of KAOS; and Freddie Thorp, recognized from Fate: The Winx Saga.
Pip Returns to Solving Mysteries in Season 2
I was completely gripped by the first season! It followed Pip as she reopened a five-year-old murder case – a really popular student who everyone thought was killed by her boyfriend. He’d even taken his own life after supposedly admitting to it. But as Pip dug deeper, she peeled back so many layers of secrets, and eventually revealed what actually happened to both of them. It was a really powerful story, though uncovering the truth came at a huge cost – it shattered several families and really took a toll on Pip emotionally, too.
Season 2 is based on the book Good Girl, Bad Blood. After the events of the last case, Pip wants to quit being a detective, but she’s quickly drawn into a new investigation. This time, the brother of a friend—who is crucial to a big trial—disappears. Despite wanting to leave detective work behind, Pip takes on the case to uncover what happened.
