You’ve likely come across the viral debate on TikTok and Instagram: would you accept $10 million if it meant being relentlessly pursued for the rest of your life by a snail that can instantly kill you with just a touch?
The idea started with a question on a Rooster Teeth podcast in 2014, and now it’s been developed into a game.
Don’t Touch The Snail is a quirky game where a snail appears on your computer screen and slowly moves towards your mouse cursor. Created by PlasticBagHandMan and published by Both Good, it’s a simple but suspenseful experience.
One touch and it’s over
If the snail touches your cursor even once, the game is over. Your score will be saved on the global leaderboard, but you won’t be able to play survival mode again – ever. There are no do-overs or resets; you’re permanently locked out of the mode.
You earn Gold for every minute you stay alive, which you can use to buy over 50 different skins and costumes for your snail. If you die, a cute little snail will appear on your computer screen as a harmless companion, wearing the last outfit you unlocked.
Okay, so the creators are calling this game an ‘anti-cosy idler,’ but honestly, that just means it’s designed to stress you out! Usually, with these idle games, you’re supposed to be able to just leave them alone and check back later. This one? It’s built to constantly bug you and demand your attention – it’s definitely not a ‘set it and forget it’ kind of experience.
We previously explained the popular “immortal snail” meme, detailing how it spread on TikTok and the creative ways users attempted to “beat” it.
