I Just Found Out About Nathan Fillion’s Deleted Role In Deadpool, And It Sounds Like Ryan Reynolds Really Worked To Get Him Another Part In The Franchise

As a self-proclaimed media enthusiast, I’ve watched every episode of the show called “Two Guys And A Girl” (formerly known as “Two Guys, A Girl, And A Pizza Place“), which means I’m well-acquainted with Nathan Fillion and Ryan Reynolds. While Reynolds was a mainstay on the ABC sitcom since its debut in 1998, Fillion joined in Season 2 and later became a key character. Although I knew about their history together, I recently learned some interesting details: Fillion had an uncredited cameo in “Deadpool” that didn’t make the final cut, and he was initially set to appear in “Deadpool 2“, but instead voiced Headpool in “Deadpool & Wolverine“.

Chris Fillion has multiple roles in comic book movies, such as the entire Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy (to be fair, his part in Vol. 2 is quite elusive), and the latest Superman movie where he portrays Guy Gardner, also known as Green Lantern. In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, the actor mentioned a cut scene from Deadpool that didn’t make it to the final film.

In the first place, I was fortunate enough to make a cameo appearance in Deadpool, but unfortunately, my scene didn’t make it to the final cut. Coincidentally, I was also working on Castle during that time. It was only a tiny role, and I asked for it to be unrecognizable so as not to distract from the main action. If you’re interested, you might find it in the deleted scenes if you purchase the digital version of the movie.

Although Nathan Fillion was reportedly tied up with his long-standing TV series, preventing him from having a larger role in Deadpool, there exists a cut scene showing him in a brief moment as the towel guy during the strip club sequence where Morena Baccarin’s character Vanessa works.

Regarding Deadpool 2, Nathan Fillion didn’t specify the exact role that Ryan Reynolds approached him about, but he is grateful for his former colleague maintaining contact and expressing a desire to collaborate again. Eventually, they managed to work together once more in the production of Deadpool & Wolverine, with Fillion providing the voice for Headpool, a floating zombie head character. Interestingly, this role wasn’t the original plan either.

He invited me to try out for a role in Deadpool 2, which was quite gracious of him. We’ve stayed connected since then. He’s an extremely generous individual who likes to share his success with others. He has numerous fantastic opportunities coming his way, and he enjoys involving friends in these chances… Ryan often reached out to me with requests like, “Hey, could you do a favor for me?” As if I were the one doing him a favor. We worked on various materials together. Initially, we focused on one character, then transitioned into portraying Headpool, and finally refining the humor.

The cameo features a character that seamlessly aligns with other notable guest appearances in the scene where Deadpool and Wolverine confront several versions of Deadpool. Alongside Nathan Fillion portraying Headpool, you’ll find Blake Lively as Ladypool and Matthew McConaughey in the role of Cowboypool.

Are you up for catching some Deadpool movies? It’s quite simple if you have a Disney+ subscription since Deadpool, Deadpool 2, and even Deadpool & Wolverine are all accessible in their streaming service.
