Crimson Desert lets you gather ore, which is essential for crafting gear like armor and weapons. You’ll also need specific ores to improve your character’s abilities, such as health and stamina. If you’re new to the game, finding and collecting ore can be a bit tricky, so we’ve put together this guide to help you get started. Let’s jump right in!
How Do You Mine Ore in Crimson Desert
To Mine Ore in Crimson Desert, you need to:
- Go To/Discover to an Ore Deposit
- Equip your Pickaxe with the Radial Equipment menu
- Hold L1 (PlayStation) or LB (Xbox) to aim your pickaxe when near the ore
- Adjust your aim over the ore until the red circle becomes blue
- Press R1/RB to mine for the Ore
- Press and hold Square/X to pick up the Ore
Mining ore in Crimson Desert is generally straightforward. You’ll need a pickaxe to get started. The easiest way to get one is through a free quest from Rhett in Hernand early in the game. You can also purchase a pickaxe from the Provisioner’s shop, or sometimes find one while exploring the world – for example, you might discover the Mining Knuckledrill.
After getting a Pickaxe, your next goal is to find ore. Luckily, Crimson Desert shows you exactly where each ore deposit is located on the map. And the good news is, these deposits will reappear after a few days in the game, so you won’t run out!
Once you’ve located an ore deposit, you can start mining. Select your pickaxe from the equipment menu. Aim by holding down the L1/LB button – you’ll see a red circle showing your target. When the circle turns blue, you’re ready to mine! Press R1 to swing your pickaxe and break the ore.
Once you destroy the Deposit, the ore will drop, and you can collect it using the Square or X button. If you have a pet, like a dog or cat, they might pick it up for you instead, depending on where the ore falls.
That covers the main way to mine ore in Crimson Desert, but the game actually has other mining methods available too!
Other ways to Mine Ores in Crimson Desert
Players may also mine in Crimson Desert in other ways as well.
If you’ve battled Marni’s Excavatron, you might have earned a Mining Knuckledrill. This weapon is pretty effective for damage, but its real strength is mining ore. Plus, upgrading it unlocks useful features, such as automatically collecting ore when you hit a deposit.
You can use Force Palm to break open Ore, but you’ll actually get less Ore that way compared to using a pickaxe or Mining Drill. We suggest waiting until you have those tools instead.
Mining is a key part of Crimson Desert, letting you gather essential resources like iron, copper, gold, diamonds, garnet, and bloodstone. These materials are vital for improving your gear – upgrading your armor and weapons will make you more powerful in combat. Keep an eye out for resource deposits all over Pywel to help build up Kliff!
