Like its previous installment, Paranormasight: The Mermaid’s Curse tells its story in a unique, non-linear way. As you finish each part of the game, you’ll unlock new segments that might happen much later, or even earlier, in the overall timeline, jumping around in the story as you go.

A key part of the game involves replaying chapters you’ve already finished. To move forward, you’ll often need to make different choices on subsequent playthroughs to unlock new story paths. Because the game has multiple endings determined by your decisions, getting the hang of this ‘timeline jumping’ is crucial.

How to Fully Complete the Tomokazuki Chapter

To unlock all content in the first chapter, Tomokazuki, you need to play through it once normally. During that playthrough, be sure to tell Azami you saw a “clone” underwater. This will start additional chapters for Sato and Yumeko, but after completing those, you might think you’ve reached the end – don’t worry, there are still more chapters to unlock!

When this happens, follow these steps to unlock the next timeline:

  1. Return to the Story Chart: You will notice the Tomokazuki chapter icon isn’t dimmed like the others, indicating there are still secrets to uncover.
  2. Select the third scene: Re-enter the chapter and select the third option from the scene selection to jump straight to the conversation between Yuza and Azami on the boat (notice that it doesn’t have a “check” mark on it).
  3. Change your dialogue option while on the boat: This time, do not tell Azami about the Tomokazuki. Instead, simply ask to leave the area immediately.

Leaving earlier changes everything. Instead of meeting their friends, Yuza and Azami get back to the city quickly and meet Chie, an experienced diver who thinks the sea is haunted and dangerous. Soon after, Kikuko, another local diver, arrives and tells them the town believes Yuza’s mother was involved in the disaster that happened years ago.
