As a seasoned Honkai: Star Rail player with countless hours spent exploring the vast universe of Terra, I’ve had the pleasure (and sometimes frustration) of mastering various characters and strategies. One character that truly stands out in my personal journey is Yunli, the enigmatic dancer who hides her true power beneath a graceful facade.

In the ongoing adventure of Honkai: Star Rail, with the Penacony storyline wrapping up, players find themselves back in Luofu. Here, they’ll meet both old friends and new faces. Among the newcomers introduced in this chapter is Yunli, a Physical Destruction unit. Distinctively, she is the first limited character in this category, as Clara and the Physical Trailblazer were the only prior options. Like Clara, Yunli can retaliate with follow-up attacks and restore her own health. However, unlike Clara, Yunli is primarily designed to make the most of her Ultimate ability, gaining significant benefits each time she uses it.

Yunli’s special move, Ultimate, has a hidden benefit: though it officially consumes 240 Energy, it effectively uses only 120. This feature prevents Yunli from exceeding the maximum Energy regeneration rate and lets her utilize her Ultimate twice if fully charged. In contrast, other characters such as Argenti increase their damage with an upgraded Ultimate but must reach the Energy cap first. To get the most out of Yunli’s abilities, consider these strategies for players:

Best Yunli Relics In Honkai: Star Rail

Honkai: Star Rail Yunli Build Guide

1. Given that a significant portion of Yunli’s damage stems from her Ultimate when properly positioned, and her capacity for follow-up attacks, the optimal relic set for her is The Wind-Soaring Valorous. This set offers crucial stats like extra Attack and Critical Rate, as well as increasing Ultimate Damage. However, keep in mind that this relic set is quite specific. If players haven’t been farming it alongside the artifact set for Firefly, called Iron Cavalry Against the Scourge, they may choose The Ashblazing Grand Duke instead. This set excels at boosting her follow-up attack damage. For those lacking options from these sets, combining The Ashblazing Grand Duke and Champion of Streetwise Boxing can also be effective. In theory, a 4-piece Pioneer Diver of Dead Waters set could outperform the mixed sets if players can consistently apply three debuffs to enemies. Yunli can apply one of these debuffs herself with her taunt, making this setup highly dependent on team composition compared to the other two sets.

Yunli has two excellent choices for decorative layouts: the Inert Salsotto, which enhances both her subsequent attack and Ultimate damage, or the Duran, Dynasty of Running Wolves, which performs well, particularly when combined with characters proficient in follow-up attacks. The decision between these sets should be influenced by sub-stats and team composition, as they offer comparable performance.

1. When choosing key stats, players often find it more beneficial to focus on Critical Hit Rate rather than Critical Hit Damage for Yunli’s Body armor, unless they have lucked out with good sub-stats, as Yunli’s light cone and self-buffs offer Critical Hit Damage. However, her ascension bonuses provide Critical Hit Rate. For the Feet piece, it is advisable to prioritize Attack over Speed, since Yunli doesn’t gain much from speed increases due to the relatively small role of her Basic Attack and Skill in overall damage. The selection between Planar Sphere and Link Rope depends on your team composition. Generally, Physical Damage and Attack are fairly balanced, but if Yunli lacks Attack or has teammates who can provide Attack buffs like Robin, opt for more Physical Damage. If you have characters like Tingyun or Huohuo in your team, Energy Regeneration Rate may not be necessary, making Attack the preferred choice for Link Rope. Additionally, when it comes to sub-stats, focus on Critical Hit Rate, Critical Hit Damage, and Attack, following the usual DPS character build pattern.

Best Yunli Light Cones In Honkai: Star Rail

Honkai: Star Rail Yunli Build Guide

As a gamer, I can tell you that when it comes to Yunli’s light cones, none compares to my go-to option: “Dance at Sunset.” This signature ability of hers deals way more damage than the other alternatives. The unique feature of “Dance at Sunset” is its capability to amplify Critical Values and grant additional perks whenever Yunli gets attacked. Consequently, this leads to a higher frequency of her counterattacks being triggered and an increase in the potency of subsequent attacks. So, by utilizing “Dance at Sunset,” I find it more advantageous to concentrate on my follow-up attack and place Yunli in a team with a focus on follow-ups, rather than solely relying on her Ultimate.

Among the top two choices, albeit only offering partial light cone benefits, are named “The Unreachable Side” and “Brightest Glow“. These light cones function exceptionally well as damage enhancers for Yunli’s Critical Values. However, they don’t offer the unique interaction with Yunli’s abilities that “Dance at Sunset” does.

1. If players are looking for more choices suitable for free-to-play gamers, they might want to think about using Clara’s light cone, called “Something Irreplaceable“, if they already own it in their inventory. An alternative that is completely free-to-play is maximizing the superimposition of “On the Fall of an Aeon“. While it may not be as specialized as Yunli’s signature Light Cone, it consistently provides damage increases, making it a strong option.
