As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I must say that the latest update for Honkai: Star Rail has truly caught my attention. With its intriguing storyline and innovative features, it’s like a breath of fresh air in the gaming world.

In a recent announcement by miHoYo developers, the much-anticipated version 2.7 update for “Honkai: Star Rail”, titled “A New Venture on the Eighth Dawn”, is set to roll out on December 4.

Here is an overview of the update, via miHoYo:

In this latest update, the game will guide you towards the final stage before the Express embarks on an adventure to the enigmatic land of Amphoreus, the Everlasting Realm. As the tale in Penacony reaches its end, prepare for a fresh narrative that introduces two new playable characters – Sunday and Fugue. Alongside these characters and their stories, Version 2.7 delivers an array of captivating activities for Trailblazers to explore.

Previously, Black Swan proposed that the team explore Amphoreus, a mysterious place where not even the legendary explorer Akivili, Aeon of Trailblaze, could go. Intrigued but also wary, Miss Himeko, our navigator, sets out to gather information about this destination. Simultaneously, the crew pays a final visit to Penacony, catching up with old acquaintances and creating cherished moments before setting off on their next adventure.

The details of that show at the Penacony Grand Theater are as clear as if it occurred just yesterday. It’s not only the Astral Express or Penacony that have been stirred from their slumber, but Sunday as well. After relinquishing his position as head of the Oak Family, he has decided to leave his divine status behind and experience the world in its raw form. He discards the benefits bestowed upon him by both Harmony and Order, opting instead to pursue his ideal of a utopia as an ordinary mortal. With the assistance of a clandestine Pepeshi named Wonweek, he plans to return to Penacony with one desire – to deliver one last, extraordinary performance before embarking on his new path. His new attire gives him a fresh look and hides his identity for his final dance in the “Festival Planet.

In battle, as a top-tier fictional character, Sunday offers exceptional assistance abilities. His talent enables allies to act instantly while they also increase the damage they inflict. If an ally has a summon too, both can act simultaneously, and the damage amplification effect becomes more noticeable. When Sunday uses his ultimate skill, it restores energy for one teammate and blesses both him/her and their summon with “The Beatified.” A halo will appear on this blessed teammate, enhancing their critical damage output.

A new character approaching is Fugue, who goes by the name of Tingyun among the Trailblazers – an old friend of theirs. Once a cunning foxian girl, she now finds herself with her identity stolen. Despite this, there’s a slim chance of redemption for her, though the taint of Destruction still lingers within her. Tingyun narrowly avoided death during her encounter with Phantylia in version 1.2’s main storyline and was miraculously saved by Madam Ruan Mei from the Genius Society, who gave her a second chance at life. Lately, Himeko and Welt have visited Madam Ruan Mei and decided to bring Tingyun back home, setting her on the path of returning to what is familiar once more.

Fugue is a 5-star Fire character with an affinity with support one teammate in reducing enemies’ Toughness regardless of Weakness Type. When Fugue is in combat, enemy targets will be inflicted with the “Cloudflame Luster” effect. When “Cloudflame Luster” is reduced to 0, the target will take Weakness Break DMG again. Furthermore, when teammates attack Weakness Broken enemy targets, they will also deal Super Break DMG. Not only that, through her Skill, Fugue can increase ally characters’ Break Effects. When she uses her Ultimate, she deals Fire DMG to all enemies regardless of Weakness Type and directly reduces all enemies’ Toughness.

Furthermore, during the Version 2.7 warp event, General Jing Yuan and Firefly will reappear, with General Jing Yuan joining you at the start of the event, followed by Firefly in its second half. These powerful characters prove to be indispensable allies for your upcoming travels.

In Version 2.7, you’ll find more than just fresh characters and plots. The Astral Express now offers an engaging atmosphere on its revamped Party Car, merging sophistication with a touch of nostalgia. Here, a roomy lounge area boasts a stylish marble bar and a vintage-style robotic bartender. Players can sip drinks with the crew or contemplate in quiet solitude by the window, allowing the breathtaking cosmic vistas to stir their imagination.

Players can climb up to discover the Trailblazer’s private living quarters. During the “Cosmic Home Makeover” event, they will turn an unused storage room into a comfortable sanctuary, creating spaces such as a bedroom and bathroom. By utilizing Earned Express Funds from completing tasks, Trailblazers collect and customize furniture to create a space that showcases their interstellar journey.

In the future, during the launch of Version 3.0, a new path called the Path of Remembrance will be unveiled. This path will include characters who possess special summons known as memo-sprites. Each memosprite offers unique battle abilities and can join allies on this path, thereby adding strategic complexity to every interaction.

In Version 3.0 update, the Relic system will offer users the ability to choose both the Primary Stat and Additional Attributes during the synthesis process, utilizing specialized tools. By employing a specific quantity of the new resource, Wishful Resin, combined with Self-Modeling Resin, players can simultaneously set the Primary and Secondary Stats for their Relic.

As a diehard fan, I stumbled upon something extraordinary when rummaging through the Trailblazer’s storage boxes recently. Starting with the Version 2.7 update and continuing up until Version 3.2, Trailblazers will be blessed with the “Gift of the Express.” This remarkable gift allows each Trailblazer to choose one 5-star character from the regular roster that they admire!

Right now, you can get your hands on “Honkai: Star Rail” across multiple platforms – PlayStation 5, PC (through client download and the Epic Games Store), iOS (App Store), and Android (Google Play). Not to be left out, a version for PlayStation 4 is also in the works!
