As a seasoned Honkai: Star Rail enthusiast with countless hours spent navigating the cosmos, I must say, the latest announcement has left me absolutely spellbound! Introducing none other than THE Herta herself, a character who has been a tantalizing mystery to many of us.
Earlier today, the team at HoYoverse unveiled a brand new character through their official Honkai: Star Rail social media platforms. To everyone’s astonishment, this upcoming character is none other than Herta!
The Herta just got announced
It turns out that this unusual name was allegedly selected by none other than Herta herself, as suggested in the post on Twitter/X.
The scholars from the Intelligentsia Guild proposed bestowing an additional title upon me, such as “Prime Herta”, to distinguish me from my surrogates. In response, I proposed a counter-suggestion: if they were bold enough to write that, then I would adopt the name THE Herta.
It appears that’s precisely what transpired. Here’s an interesting fact about why “the” precedes her name.
The Intellectuals’ Circle proposed adding another name for me. Something like “Prime Herta,” to distinguish myself from my proxies. How trite, aren’t these proxies still considered parts of me? In response, I suggested a challenge – if they were brave enough…

Now, enough about her name and more about her design and character info!
The Herta will retain her role as an Ice Intelligence unit, but she will now be showcased as a unique event 5-star character, much like Dan Heng and Dan Heng Imbibitor Lunae.
In her latest design, she adopts an outfit reminiscent of a witch, complete with the signature pointed hat. A recurring motif on her attire appears to be hands, as they are noticeable on her hat, dress, and even the bottoms of her shoes. A fascinating element indeed!
Additionally, she seems to possess an enormous key, much like the Keyblades from the Kingdom Hearts series. Could it potentially serve as her preferred tool for battle?
According to the pattern of character releases in Honkai: Star Rail, it’s expected that The Herta will make her debut in version 2.8. This is immediately following Fugue, the latest 5-star character that has been announced.
