- Huohuo’s voice actor has been changed both in-game and on the official website following the release of Version 2.4 of Honkai: Star Rail.
- Fans quickly noticed the replacement of Huohuo’s English voice actor, sparking speculation on the reasons behind the switch.
- Argenti’s voice actor was also changed recently, with HoYoverse not providing an official statement.
As a dedicated Honkai: Star Rail player with over 200 hours under my belt, I can confidently say that the recent changes to Huohuo and Argenti’s voice actors have left me scratching my head more than a Void Mirror puzzle!
In the latest version 2.4 of Honkai: Star Rail, Huohuo and Yunli have new voice actors for their in-game appearances as well as on the game’s official website. This update also marks Huohuo’s first rerun banner, while Yunli makes her debut.
Ever since its debut in 2023, Honkai: Star Rail has expanded its playable roster to over fifty unique characters, each boasting their own distinct traits and skills. Among these, Huohuo – a five-star Wind-type character adhering to the path of Abundance – was unveiled in Version 1.5 and is now recognized as one of the top healers within the game. Huohuo’s amusing dialogue exchanges with her sidekick, Mr. Tail, have kept her popular among the gaming community. However, post the 2.4 update, players have observed a significant modification in the character by HoYoverse.
Players have discovered that the voice actor for Huohuo in the game and on Honkai: Star Rail’s official website has been changed. As noted by Twitter user @StarRailVerse1, Courtney Lin is no longer credited as Huohuo’s voice actress. Instead, Megan Shipman now voices the character. HoYoverse has yet to provide an explanation for this switch, leaving players surprised and taken aback, as many are currently supporting Huohuo in Honkai: Star Rail’s ongoing banner.
Honkai: Star Rail Replacing Huohuo Voice Actor
The rationale for this decision seems vague, yet some spectators assume it could be linked to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA video game strike. Although Courtney Lin publicly backs the strike on social platforms, she has not spoken about Huohuo’s latest voiceover. Interestingly, Lin’s role in Zenless Zone Zero, another HoYoverse production, seems untouched by this situation.
In the world of Honkai: Star Rail, a change in voice actors for one of the characters is not a new occurrence. Recently, HoYoverse made an unexpected switch for the character Argenti, who also portrayed Mr. Tail in the game. This led to a complete re-recording of his lines, and eagle-eyed fans of Argenti picked up on this change with the arrival of Version 2.4.
Despite neither case receiving formal announcements, Honkai: Star Rail has indeed confirmed a change in Moze’s voice actor. Previously, Chris Niosi voiced the character, but he chose to step down from the role following backlash from fans concerning his participation in the game. Currently, Moze appears in Version 2.4 of Honkai: Star Rail and is anticipated to become a playable character in an upcoming update. HoYoverse has disclosed that Moze’s voice lines will be re-recorded for future versions; however, they have yet to reveal the identity of his replacement actor.
