- A German government agency appears to have transferred $425 million in bitcoin to another wallet, returning some to the original wallet and sending a portion to crypto exchange deposit wallets.
- Transactional data shows deposits worth $32 million each to Kraken and Bitstamp, which may indicate intentions to sell.
The German Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) wallet, earlier recognized as such by Arkham, transferred 6,500 Bitcoin to the address “bc1q0unygz3ddt8x0v33s6ztxkrnw0s0tl7zk4yxwd” and subsequently returned it to itself. Records of transactions indicate that approximately $32 million in Bitcoin was put into Kraken and Bitstamp exchanges, with corresponding values.
According to Miguel More, the CEO of Arkham, a sum of approximately $130 million in Bitcoin was transferred by an unknown entity to “service wallets.” This action typically signals an upcoming plan to dispose of the cryptocurrency holdings in the not too distant future.
Mantle blockchain strategist @Defi_Maestro flagged the movements on X earlier.
In early 2013, the German Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) obtained approximately 50,000 Bitcoins, equivalent to more than $2 billion at that time, from the administrators of Movie2k.to, a well-known film piracy website. The BKA acquired these digital assets through a “voluntary transfer” initiated by the suspects and reported by Arkham.
