French Model-Turned-Actor Marine Vacth Headlines ‘Taken’-Style Action Thriller From ‘Revenge’ Producers (EXCLUSIVE)

As a seasoned cinema enthusiast with a penchant for gritty action thrillers and a soft spot for French cinema, I am eagerly anticipating the release of “Badh.” Marine Vacth, an actress whose performances have captivated me since her turn in “Mascarade,” takes center stage here, portraying a character that seems to be a blend of Jason Statham’s tenacity and Lupita Nyong’o’s resilience.

Actress Marine Vacth, previously known for her work as a model (“Mascarade,” “Double Lover”), is scheduled to star in “Badh,” an action-packed thriller akin to the “Taken” series, but set in Morocco. This film will be produced by the team behind Coralie Fargeat’s successful debut movie, “Revenge.

This movie is directed by Guillaume de Fontenay, a renowned Canadian filmmaker known for his hit thriller “Sympathy for the Devil.” The production companies Federation Studios banner Ginger & Fed, led by Sabine Chemaly, and WTFilms are jointly representing this film. They will be showcasing it to potential buyers at the American Film Market over the next few days.

In this film, Vanessa Hessler shares screen time with a group of well-known French actors, including Niels Schneider (“Heartbeats”), Emmanuelle Bercot (“My King”), Slimane Dazi (“A Prophet”), and Sofian Khammes (“November”). This intriguing production is the joint effort of Monkey Pack Films and M.E.S Production, who have previously produced successful thrillers such as Coralie Fargeat’s “Revenge” and Frederic Jardin’s “Survive.

As a cinephile, I embody Alma, a French woman who’s swapped her deadly secret service agent past for the tranquil life of a surf instructor in captivating Essaouira, Morocco. My days are shared with Ilias, a local cop probing a formidable crime syndicate. However, when Ilias is gunned down and falls into a coma, I’m compelled to resurface the ruthless operative within me as Badh – an assassin par excellence. I systematically eliminate key players from the Khoury family, igniting Mansour, their leader’s wrath. In a shocking twist, it’s revealed that Mansour is in cahoots with Joana, my ex-unit colleague from the secret service. Having starred in various director-driven films like Francois Ozon’s “Young and Beautiful” and Nicolas Bedos’ “Mascarade,” this role presents a unique blend of peace and peril.

According to Chemaly, Marine Vacth plays a character reminiscent of Jason Statham’s style, with a narrative structure similar to ‘Taken’ and ‘Bourne.’ Essentially, this means that her character has a tough, action-packed persona, just like Statham. In the story, she endeavors to safeguard the man she cherishes, but finds herself entangled in her own past.

Additionally, the executive noted that “Badh” is filled with jaw-dropping stunts, many of which are performed by Vacth herself. The team behind this film includes Alexandre Vu, known for his work as the stuntman in “The Killer” and “John Wick: Chapter 4”. Beyond “Sympathy for the Devil”, de Fontenay has a rich history in creating advertisements.

“Vacth” will be released in France by Pan Distribution during the fourth quarter of 2025.
