The Evil Dead series has seen a major comeback since its 2013 reboot. The 2023 film, Evil Dead Rise, was a huge success, leading to plans for two more installments. In 2026, Sébastien Vaniček’s Evil Dead Burn will scare audiences, and a fifth main Evil Dead movie, Evil Death Wrath, is planned for 2028. Thanks to this renewed popularity, creator Sam Raimi and his brother Ivan have revealed a plan to release Evil Dead films much more frequently than the previous pattern of one movie every ten years.
I’ve been so impressed with how Sam Raimi has been choosing new directors to bring their own unique ideas to the Evil Dead series – each one tackling a fresh take on the Deadite threat. But with so many projects happening at once, it’s got me wondering if they’re all connected. While the rules for how the Deadites work have stayed pretty consistent across the films, we haven’t really seen any solid links between them beyond Bruce Campbell’s Ash Williams… until now! The little teaser shown in theaters for Evil Dead Burn had a sneaky detail that really makes me think there might be a bigger, shared universe brewing, and I’m honestly thrilled about it.
A Hidden Detail in the ‘Evil Dead Burn’ Trailer Indicates It May Connect to ‘Ash vs. Evil Dead’

A brief trailer for the new Evil Dead movie, shown before screenings of The Mummy in July 2026, offered a quick but frightening glimpse of what’s to come. The teaser features a large house and a terrified woman trying to escape a chaotic and violent scene inside. A subtle detail in the house’s exterior hints at a possible connection to the Ash vs. Evil Dead television series.
According to Brad Miska of Dread Central, fans of Ash vs. Evil Dead will recognize the house featured in the trailer. It was previously used as the home of Ruby Knowby, a major villain who hunts Ash Williams and his team. Ruby is revealed to be one of the original creators of the Necronomicon, and despite some timeline changes in the show, the house remains a crucial connection. A production designer on Ash vs. Evil Dead has confirmed that it’s the very same house.
The action in Evil Dead Burn suggests it might take place in the same universe as Ash vs. Evil Dead, possibly even in a location fans already know. While we can’t be sure with the limited information available, this idea seems likely considering how the Evil Dead story is growing. The introduction of multiple Necronomicons opens up the possibility of survivors from different attacks teaming up to fight a bigger enemy, which is exciting for fans of the series.
A Connected ‘Evil Dead’ Universe Has Been Theorized Since 2013

After a quick appearance by Bruce Campbell’s Ash at the end of the 2013 Evil Dead film, fans began hoping for a team-up between Ash and Jane Levy’s character, Mia, to fight the Deadites, as both had experience dealing with them. Campbell himself hinted that he was open to the idea, which fueled the speculation. When Evil Dead Rise introduced another survivor, Lily Sullivan’s Beth, fans quickly started wondering if Mia and Beth could join forces with Ash to defeat the Deadites and those responsible for unleashing them.
There’s a chance the small detail shown in the Evil Dead Burn trailer won’t lead anywhere, and the movie might just be another self-contained story within the Evil Dead world. But it feels like too important a detail to simply be a reused filming location. Considering how well a connected Evil Dead universe would work and how much fans want it, the idea that these movies are all linked together seems more likely than ever.
