Every New Feature and Addition in Honkai: Star Rail Update 2.5 Explained

As a long-time Honkai: Star Rail player who’s seen my share of updates and events, let me tell you, version 2.5 is shaping up to be a game-changer! The new Planar Ornaments are just what we needed to give our summons and supports a significant boost. Lushaka, The Sunken Seas, for instance, offers an attack increase for the first unit in the team line-up while providing energy regeneration for the user – perfect for hypercarry comps!

This week is full of excitement for Honkai: Star Rail enthusiasts as they’ve just received the latest update – Version 2.5! These updates are typically packed with fresh content, but this one stands out due to its abundance. It brings in new character options, story quests, and enhancements to the endgame mode. What makes it even more special is the addition of new banners, events, Planar Sets, changes to the Divergent Universe, and an adorable new feature!

In the 2.5 update for Honkai: Star Rail, titled “Flying Aureus Shot to Lupine Rue,” significant changes are made to the narrative of the Astral Express’ voyage to Xianzhou Luofu. General Jing Yuan extends an invitation to the crew to celebrate the Wardance Festival. As is often the case, things do not go according to plan. The Borisin, a competing faction to the Xianzhou Alliance, have infiltrated the Luofu with the intention of liberating their imprisoned leader held within the Shackling Prison. It falls upon the Trailblazers to collaborate with Jing Yuan, the Ten-Lords Commission, Yaoqing General Feixiao, and other Alliance members to thwart this perilous escape scheme.

New 5-Star and 4-Star Banners Coming to Honkai: Star Rail Version 2.5

In the latest update of Honkai: Star Rail, Version 2.5, the eagerly anticipated banners featuring fresh additions are undoubtedly the highlights. Besides introducing new limited 5-stars, this patch also offers not just two, but four re-run banners for previously released units, and a brand new 4-star character.

Honkai: Star Rail Version 2.5 Phase 1 Banners

  • Stormrider’s Bolt and Brilliant Fixation: The Stormrider’s Bolt Event Warp boosts the new 5-star Wind-Hunt unit Feixiao. Meanwhile, her Light Cone “I Venture Forth to Hunt” can be pulled from the Brilliant Fixation warp.
  • Indelible Coterie and Coalesced Truths: Indelible Coterie features the Physical-Harmony support Robin and the damage-over-time units Kafka and Black Swan. Meanwhile, Coalesced Truths contains the banners for their respective Light Cones. Players can swap between these banners to pull for their selected characters. As always, the pity is shared between each limited character banner.

In addition to characters Asta and Luka, the recently introduced 4-star character Moze in the Lightning-Hunt banner enjoys an increased drop rate. During this phase, the light cones of all three characters will be enhanced, with the limited ones experiencing a boost as well. Players aiming to acquire Feixiao and Moze should also gather the new ascension materials for leveling them up.

  • A Glass of the Besotted Era: This is Feixiao’s ascension material, and players can acquire it from the Stagnant Shadow: Shape of Gloam.
  • Nail of the Beast Coffin: This is the ascension material for Moze, and it drops from the Stagnant Shadow: Shape of Mechwolf.

Honkai: Star Rail Version 2.5 Phase 2 Banners

  • Let That Scent Sink In and Brilliant Fixation: The weakness break and follow-up-focused Fire-Abundance unit Lingsha releases in the Let That Scent Sink In Banner. Her Light Cone can be grabbed from the Brilliant Fixation warp during this phase.
  • Sunset Clause and Bygone Reminiscence: The Sunset Clause features the follow-up attacking Fire-Hunt DPS Topaz and Numby. Her signature Light Cone can be obtained from the Bygone Reminiscence event warp.

During this stage, Guinaifen, Natasha, and Misha will receive an enhancement to their star rating, now sitting at five stars each. Additionally, the 4-star units Light Cones Shared Feeling, Planetary Rendezvous, and Shadowed by Night will also be given a temporary boost in the upcoming limited Light Cone banners.

Every New Feature and Addition in Honkai: Star Rail Update 2.5 Explained

Alongside the expected character posters, this release includes brand-new goods and exciting innovations.

Players Can Get Free Pulls Through the Gift of Comet and Gift of Odyssey

  • The Gift of Odyssey: This returns every major patch to give players 10 free Star Rail Special Passes. They only need to check in for 7 days during the event to claim their rewards.
  • The Gift of Comet: This event 1,000 Stellar Jades, 10 Fuel, and 150 Tears of Dreams. This gives a much-needed boost for pulls and Trailblaze Power for farming the new characters’ materials and sets.

Version 2.5’s New Planar Ornaments are Perfect for Summon and Support Units

  • Lushaka, The Sunken Seas: The pre-release information for this set shows that it offers a 5% energy regeneration rate for the user. If the wearer is not the first character in the team line-up, the set increases the first unit’s attack by 12%. This is excellent for Honkai: Star Rail‘s hypercarry comps, as it offers big damage boosts for the DPS and ultimate regeneration for the support who will wear it. However, it may be less beneficial for teams that need more universal buffs.
  • The Wondrous BananAmusement Park: There’s also pre-release info that this set improves the wearer’s CRIT damage by 16% when their summon is on the field. This is a niche set that’s best for Topaz and future DPS units that focus on summons.

The Luminary Wardance Ceremony and Festive Revelry Events Offer Big Rewards

At the Luminary Wardance Event, participants will guide Luka, Belobog’s competitor, in a sequence of fights against opponents such as Boothill, Topaz, and Argenti. In addition to vanquishing foes, players must perform spectacular moves to earn favor with the audience for a significant boost. This gathering is not to be missed, as it rewards participants with three Eidolons for The Hunt on March 7th, Stellar Jades, and materials for crafting Relics.

Delighted mini-game enthusiasts! Regardless of completing the ongoing storyline missions from this patch, everyone can participate in the fresh cargo stacking event called Festive Revelry. This is advantageous for free-to-play and casual spenders, as it presents additional Stellar Jades, aids in character leveling, and provides valuable Relic materials.

Honkai: Star Rail 2.5 Launches its Pet Feature

HSR finally launched its pet system in Version 2.5, and players can unlock the Tukspir pet after completing the Luminary Wardance event. This little critter follows the player around in the overworld. Pets seem to be purely cosmetic at the moment, and it’s exciting to see what kind of cute and cool critters will come to the game in the future.

Divergent Universe and Echo of War Additions and Changes

In the Divergent Universe of Honkai: Star Rail, a fresh game mode is being introduced, introducing new Common Quirks, Heavy Quirks, and Occurrences for players to boost their virtual squads even further. During this period, some existing Formulas, Heavy Quirks, and Blessings will undergo revisions as well. As the synchronicity level rises to 80, rewards such as Stellar Jades and Traveler’s Guides become available. Those who love Adventure Domains will be thrilled to discover the addition of two new games, Cowboy Showdown and Surging Firepower, within this mode.

In the upcoming Version 2.5, we’ll see the release of “The Echo of War: Inner Beast’s Battlefield.” This update will remove Auspice Silver, a valuable 4-star trace material used by Moze and Lingsha from circulation. Additionally, the boss could potentially drop items from the Ashblazing Grand Duke and Watchmaker, Master of Dream Machinations Relic sets, along with Lucent Afterglow currency. Moreover, Trailblazers will have a limited time opportunity to acquire additional trace materials for Feixiao, Lingsha, and Moze earlier, allowing them to upgrade their characters without completing the story quests first.
