The Similarities and Differences Between Honkai: Star Rail and Honkai Impact 3rd Characters

HoYoverse clarifies that characters in their games represent the same individuals living in distinct realms. Games like Honkai: Star Rail and Honkai Impact 3rd share a connection through the Imaginary Tree, which spawns numerous branches and cultivates civilizations that house beloved characters familiar to dedicated fans.

Bronya Zaychik

In Honkai Impact 3rd, Bronya Zaychik is a key character within the St. Freya team, alongside Kiana Kaslana and Raiden Mei. Prior to becoming part of this trio, she was a Russian orphan bred for the specific task of eliminating Cocolia, an Anti-Entropy member. However, when Bronya failed in her mission, Cocolia took her under her wing and allowed her to reside in the orphanage she managed. Here, Bronya was subjected to various experiments.

In the case of Honkai: Star Rail’s Bronya Rand, her story bears some resemblance as she too was adopted by Cocolia Rand, a former Supreme Guardian of Belobog in Jarilo-VI. However, unlike the original Bronya, this version is groomed to become the future Supreme Guardian. After defeating a Stellaron-infected Cocolia, she assumes the role and currently leads Jarilo-VI, working tirelessly to bring life back to the world that has been frozen for a millennium.

Murata Himeko

Murata Himeko serves as both a teacher and the head of Honkai Impact 3rd’s primary team. She is portrayed as being tough and tenacious, yet somewhat reckless due to her struggle with alcohol. Despite being a playable character in the game, she selflessly gives up her life in the main narrative to shield Kiana from peril. This noble act has left numerous fans overjoyed to see Himeko reappear in Honkai: Star Rail.

In contrast to her character in Honkai Impact 3rd, Himeko is tranquil and composed. Prior to the occurrences in Honkai: Star Rail, she even managed to repair the Astral Express when it was left stranded on her home planet. Occasionally, she accompanies the Trailblazer and the rest of the Astral Express team on their escapades, but she often prefers to relax with a cup of coffee aboard the cosmic train.

Welt Yang

Additionally recognized under his birth name, Joachim Nokianvirtanen, Welt Yang served as the initial ruler and sovereign of Anti-Entropy within Honkai Impact 3rd. He subsequently bestowed the Herrscher of Reason title upon Bronya Zaychik before becoming stranded in outer space during his attempts to protect various worlds from extraterrestrial threats.

The Ruler of Rationality holds power over the fabrication of objects and the assimilation of spirit shards from adjacent combatants.

It’s fascinating to note that the character Welt appears in both ‘Honkai Impact 3rd’ and ‘Honkai: Star Rail’. It’s been suggested that he ended up on the Astral Express while drifting in space. There are several indications supporting this theory, such as Welt’s artwork depicting characters from ‘Honkai Impact 3rd’, and his recognition of Luocha as Otto Apocalypse in flashbacks from ‘Honkai: Star Rail’.

Seele Vollerei

In the game Honkai Impact 3rd, Seele Vollerei is widely recognized as Bronya Zaychik’s closest friend, carrying a shrouded history and having lived in Cocolia’s orphanage. Renowned for her compassionate nature, she also conceals a darker aspect known as Veliona, who serves as the Stigma of the 6th Herrscher. Throughout the game’s narrative, Seele assumes the roles of both the Herrscher of Death and the Herrscher of Rebirth.

Just like how Bronya Rand has Seele as her trusted ally in Honkai: Star Rail, this character was raised in an orphanage too. However, unlike other versions, this Seele is more vocal and courageous due to being a member of Wildfire, the peacekeeping force within Belohog’s Underworld.

Raiden Mei

In the game Honkai Impact 3rd, Raiden Mei stands out as one of the primary characters, also recognized as the Thunder Herrscher. Due to her past, she frequently feels lonely. When her Herrscher persona emerges, it transforms into a more malicious and aggressive form.

Fans of HoYoverse have come up with the name “Mei-verse” to refer to the multiple iterations of Raiden Mei across different universes. For instance, Acheron from Honkai: Star Rail is one such version, who was recently unveiled as Raiden Bosenmori Mei. This character shares the same Lightning abilities as Raiden Mei and also functions as a Guardian of Nothingness, frequently overseeing a seemingly infinite river that appears dark and ominous.

Kafka (Stigmata)

As a dedicated fan, I must admit that Kafka isn’t a playable character in Honkai Impact 3rd, but rather she appears as a Stigmata – an intriguing item that can be equipped, much like the Relics in Honkai: Star Rail. While the enigma surrounding Kafka the Stigmata continues to baffle many, Honkai: Star Rail offers a tantalizing glimpse into her character, revealing her as a cunning Stellaron Hunter, joining forces with Blade, Silver Wolf, and Firefly. Her unique skillset includes mind-control abilities that have left players intrigued and eager for more!

Haxxor Bunny

In the game Honkai Impact 3rd, a new character called Haxxor Bunny, also known as an alternate version of Bronya, is presented during a series of events popularly known as the “Captainverse.” This intriguing figure is a hacker who sports a suit adorned with bunny ears and possesses the extraordinary ability to summon weapons and drones out of thin air.

In the game Honkai: Star Rail, it has been confirmed that Silver Wolf is modeled after Haxxor Bunny – this is evident in one of her cinematics where she’s seen playing Bronie in Honkai Impact 3rd. Silver Wolf belongs to the notorious Stellaron Hunters faction and employs sophisticated technology to combat her enemies, making her a hacker character.

Ma Yanqing

Known by the name Ma Yanqing, this individual is recognized as one of the Seven Disciples of Fu Hua. He honed his martial arts skills at Mount Taixuan, mastering the Keys of Domination to safeguard their territory from Honkai. Renowned for his eccentric demeanor, Ma Yanqing is particularly famous for his prowess with a sword.

As I journey through Honkai: Star Rail, I find myself as a young swordsman hailing from Xianzho Luofu. Under the tutelage of Arbiter-General Jing Yuan, I’m honing my skills to become a formidable warrior. Being the youngest lieutenant in the Cloud Knights of the Xianzhou Alliance often lands me smack dab in the heat of the action.

Li Sushang

Li Sushang, famously known as the offspring of one of Fu Hua’s Seven Disciples, demonstrates exceptional skill with swords. She is the bearer of her mother’s Xuanyuan Sword. Despite being committed to honing her combat skills, it took time for Sushang to master the art.

In certain aspects, Sushang from Honkai: Star Rail shares a somewhat comparable background, as she too is a youthful swordsman with aspirations of becoming a Cloud Knight. During her downtime, she joins the Trailblazer on exciting excursions, such as ghost hunting for amusement.

Otto Apocalypse

Otto Apoclypse, a significant villain in Honkai Impact 3rd, is driven by an intense fixation on resurrecting his dearest love, Kallen Kaslana. This fixation has led him to manipulate the very fabric of the universe, hoping to alter Kallen’s destiny. However, this ambitious plan comes at a great cost – it threatens not only his own life but also risks causing irreversible damage to various parts of the universe.

In the game Honkai: Star Rail, Welt perceives Luocha as bearing a strong likeness to Otto. Yet, the details of Luocha’s past remain unknown. He is typically portrayed as a nomadic vendor who carries a questionable coffin with him.

Natasha Cioara

Natasha Cioara, more commonly known as Raven, is a ruthless mercenary in Honkai Impact 3rd, renowned for her exceptional resistance to Honkai. However, following the Third Honkai Eruption, she underwent a transformation. After saving a group of children from the devastated Nagazora, she dedicated herself to their well-being, providing them with essential medical supplies and food to help them survive.

Similar to Raven, the character Natasha in “Honkai: Star Rail” exhibits a tender affection for children, offering aid to those residing in the Underworld. In stark contrast to her mercenary counterparts, she serves as a dedicated healer instead. Interestingly, they share a commonality – both of them were parted from their brothers due to various circumstances.

Kevin Kaslana

In the game “Honkai Impact 3rd,” another significant adversary is Kevin Kaslana, head of World Serpent and one of the Thirteen Flame-Chasers. He’s convinced that eliminating Honkai justifies any method, no matter how risky it may be for those around him.

It’s not yet confirmed, but many fans speculate that the character Phainon in Honkai: Star Rail might be a variant of Kevin due to their strong physical similarities. Given that Phainon is one of the Chrysos Heirs, whose role involves reviving Amphoreus and gathering the gods’ Coreflame (the “Flame-Chase”), it’s plausible that he could share some connection with Kevin.
