Everything eventually comes to an end, and that’s especially true in the intense, realistic shooter game, Escape From Tarkov.
After a long period of early access – lasting from 2017 to late 2025 – Escape From Tarkov officially launched. This marked a significant milestone not only for Battlestate Games, but also for the dedicated team who brought the game to life.
Escape From Tarkov has lost another key member of its team: Jean Tyulegenov, a lead game designer who has been with the game for a long time, has left the project.

It’s common for people to switch jobs or leave after finishing a big project, but the departure of Tyulegenov is especially significant because he played a key role in making Escape From Tarkov so popular.
Tyulegenov joined the game development team in October 2017 and rapidly became Lead Game Designer at Battlestate Games, achieving the position within just six months.
Escape From Tarkov quickly became popular worldwide after its initial release. This success is thanks to the creative ideas of director Nikita Buyanov and the ability of Jean Tyulegenov to bring those ideas to life through engaging gameplay.
Escape From Tarkov has evolved a lot over time, with the developers continually tweaking everything to strike a good balance between realistic difficulty and fun. Personally, I’ve played over 3000 hours and definitely feel I’ve gotten my money’s worth.

With key developers having moved on from Escape From Tarkov, the game’s future is uncertain. Despite sometimes being controversial, Tarkov still boasts a large and dedicated player base, and remains a uniquely challenging experience that few other games have managed to replicate.
In addition to Jean Tyulegenov, BSG has also said goodbye to its heads of marketing and PR, Dmitri Ogorodnikov and German Terekhov. The two have since started a new game studio called Nomion Games, where they are developing a shooting game called Rush is Real.

The creator of Escape From Tarkov, Nikita Buyanov, is currently working on a new, challenging sci-fi first-person shooter called Fragmentary Order, which is set in the year 2251.
I strongly believe in the ‘Two Cakes Theory,’ which suggests that the years spent perfecting Escape From Tarkov will ultimately produce a skilled team of developers capable of applying their experience to create exciting new games.
