Elden Ring set images show a huge production
Filming is currently happening at the Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich, South London, as reported by Shortlist.
The filming location has been transformed into a misty, medieval setting filled with people, soldiers, wagons, tents, and special effects like smoke and green screens. They’ve also built large, realistic sets on location, and photos of director Alex Garland working on set have been released.
According to the report, items used during filming were labeled with names of important places from the game Elden Ring, such as “Leyndell Streets” and “Stormveil.”
Some new scenery resembles the lanterns found in Raya Lucaria, leading fans to believe the movie is taking inspiration from iconic locations within the game.

Leak video started the buzz
Before the official images were released, a video leaked from the U.K. and quickly circulated on TikTok and Reddit.
The video seems to depict the remains of a church-like structure and a statue that fans quickly recognized as resembling Queen Marika from the game Elden Ring, sparking a lot of discussion among players.
Initially, it wasn’t publicly known which film the set pieces were for, but recently released photos from Shortlist confirm that the movie is now well underway with filming.
Alex Garland’s Elden Ring movie is shaping up fast
Alex Garland is writing and directing a new movie for A24 and Bandai Namco. It’s scheduled to come out on March 3, 2028, and will be filmed in IMAX.
Okay, so the cast for this new project is seriously impressive! We’ve got Kit Connor, Ben Whishaw, Cailee Spaeny, Tom Burke, Havana Rose Liu, Sonoya Mizuno, Jonathan Pryce, Ruby Cruz, Nick Offerman, John Hodgkinson, Jefferson Hall, Emma Laird, and Peter Serafinowicz all signed on. Honestly, I’m buzzing! The only thing is, they’re keeping everyone’s roles under wraps right now, so we have no clue who’s playing who. It’s a bit frustrating, but definitely adds to the mystery!
George R.R. Martin, who helped shape the game’s mythos, is also attached as a producer.
