Dr. Jill Biden made a $35,000 bid for a cameo appearance on the next season of the show Heated Rivalry, but ultimately lost the auction. According to a report from April 16th, the winning bids totaled $125,000 each, raising a total of $250,000 for the NYC LGBT Center. Other items auctioned off included a signed jersey from the show’s stars, Hudson Williams, Rachel Reid, and Jacob Tierney, and a signed book by Reid and Tierney, bringing in an additional $19,500 for the center.
The gala celebrated Jacob Tierney, the creator of Heated Rivalry, and Brendan Brady, an executive producer who couldn’t attend. Rachel Reid, author of Game Changers, presented Tierney with the Cultural Impact Award. Dr. Carla Smith, CEO of the Center, previously stated that Tierney and Brady have brought well-developed and respectful queer characters to the forefront, giving them complex stories and genuine emotions. Their work has amplified queer voices, brought queer representation into mainstream media, and created affirming content for the community.
