Don’t Expect A New Dead Space Game Anytime Soon

According to reports, EA has temporarily paused development on the Dead Space series. This means there are currently no projects in the works – no new sequels, remakes, or reboots – for the popular survival-horror franchise, and it’s not just because of the icy setting of Dead Space 3.

According to Insider Gaming, sources at EA indicate that there are currently no plans for a new Dead Space sequel or remake after the successful release of the Dead Space remake in early 2023. While fans were hoping for a continuation of the story, it seems EA isn’t pursuing any further installments at this time. TopMob has contacted EA for confirmation.

According to sources, there’s a possibility Electronic Arts (EA) might sell the “Dead Space” game series. This speculation comes after EA was acquired for $55 billion by a group including Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, Jared Kushner’s Affinity Partners, and Silver Lake. The acquisition reportedly includes $20 billion in debt, and selling “Dead Space” could help EA pay it down. However, it’s unclear which company would be interested in buying the franchise, and whether the sale would make a significant dent in the $20 billion debt.

Glen Schofield, one of the original creators of Dead Space, recently shared that he’s been in discussions about the future of the series. He believes his idea for a new Dead Space project could save EA around $40 million. Beyond a new game, Schofield—known for games like The Callisto Protocol and Call of Duty: WWII—thinks the Dead Space franchise has strong potential to be adapted into a TV show or movie, making it a valuable property for EA to sell.

Dead Space recently appeared as a paid bundle in the free-to-play game Skate, but it caused some debate. For around $35, players could get a cardboard-look Isaac Clarke outfit, a special skateboard design, and an in-game ‘Necro Stomp’ animation.
