As a huge Marvel fan, I think everyone talks about how amazing Avengers: Endgame was, but we often forget just how incredible the cast was! Every Marvel movie, from the very first Iron Man back in 2008 to the new Spider-Man: Brand New Day coming out, always has some fantastic actors. But honestly, the cast of Endgame felt like something truly special – the best they’ve ever assembled, in my opinion.
The groundwork for Avengers: Endgame was actually laid back in 2012 with the first Avengers movie, which brought together Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Jeremy Renner, Tom Hiddleston, Stellan Skarsgård, and Samuel L. Jackson. After that film, Marvel Studios started carefully building up its cast and storyline towards that eventual, massive conclusion.
Avengers: Endgame Was The Most Ambitious Crossover In Cinema History
Avengers: Endgame brought back all the original movie’s stars, plus a huge cast of familiar faces including Benedict Cumberbatch, Don Cheadle, Tom Holland, the late Chadwick Boseman, Paul Bettany, Elizabeth Olsen, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Idris Elba, Peter Dinklage, and Benedict Wong. That’s not even counting the entire cast of Guardians of the Galaxy!
Gwyneth Paltrow returned as Pepper Potts, Iron Man’s partner, and Josh Brolin delivered a truly memorable villain with his portrayal of Thanos. The cast also grew with the addition of the Guardians of the Galaxy – Chris Pratt, Bradley Cooper, Zoe Saldaña, Vin Diesel, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, and Pom Klemetieff – joining Brie Larson and Paul Rudd for an incredibly impressive ensemble.
How Avengers: Doomsday’s Cast Compares To Avengers: Endgame’s Ensemble
Even with its amazing cast, the team assembled for Avengers: Doomsday is particularly noteworthy. The film features stars like Wyatt Russell, Tenoch Huerta, David Harbour, Florence Pugh, and Lewis Pullman, and it has another surprise in store for viewers.
With the introduction of the X-Men into the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Avengers: Doomsday, the film expands its cast to include stars like Ian McKellen, Alan Cumming, Kelsey Grammer, Patrick Stewart, James Marsden, Rebecca Romjin, and Channing Tatum. The movie also features Pedro Pascal, Joseph Quinn, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Vanessa Kirby, who will be playing the roles of the Fantastic Four in the MCU.
Avengers: Endgame Explains Why The Russo Brothers Are Back For Secret Wars
Directing a story with a large cast and a sweeping scope is incredibly challenging. The sheer number of actors and the high cost of assembling such a star-studded team made the Avengers films a project very few directors could handle.
The Russo brothers consistently delivered with both Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. While Avengers: Endgame wasn’t perfect, it skillfully managed a huge cast of characters, demonstrating the Russos’ remarkable ability to direct ensemble films.
The heroes are returning for both Doomsday and Secret Wars, which is predicted to be Marvel’s biggest on-screen story yet. Unlike Avengers: Endgame, Secret Wars won’t conclude the MCU’s current storyline; instead, it will launch a fresh new chapter.
