Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 Set Photos Reveal Time Jump & Villain Twist

New photos have been released from the set of season 2.

On Monday, TV Insider published photos from the set of the new Dexter spin-off filmed in New York City. The pictures show Michael C. Hall, as Dexter, pulling Chris Jericho into an alley after seemingly paralyzing him with an injection. The photos also reveal a surprising new villain: an elderly man in a wheelchair, a significant departure from Dexter’s usual targets throughout the series.

Brian Cox will play Don Framt, also known as the New York Ripper, a former serial killer who now harasses people he’s targeted. Dan Stevens joins the cast as Owen Stark, the Five Borough Killer, who, like the Zodiac, taunts the police with threatening phone calls. Bokeem Woodbine will play Captain Mixon, and Nona Parker Johnson will play Fiona. Kane Hodder, famous for his roles as Jason Voorhees in Friday the 13th and Leatherface in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, is also joining the show for its second season. While his character hasn’t been revealed, his background suggests he’ll likely play another serial killer who interacts with Dexter, played by Michael C. Hall.

The new season gives us a glimpse into the future, showing a significant time jump. Harrison, Dexter’s son (played by Jack Alcott), is now a fully-fledged police officer, a change from the end of the first season where he was just beginning his training. Several familiar actors are also returning, including James Remar as Harry Morgan, Kadia Saraf as Claudette Wallace, Dominic Fumusa as Melvin Oliva, and Uma Thurman as Charley Brown.

The first season of the show took place after the events of the Dexter: New Blood miniseries, beginning around 2022. It followed Dexter as he woke up from a coma and moved to New York City, where he clashed with Leon Prater (Peter Dinklage), a wealthy investor who secretly led a group of serial killers. The season also featured several other villains and serial killers portrayed by well-known actors like Krysten Ritter, Neil Patrick Harris, David Dastmalchian, and Eric Stonestreet.

Filming for the second season of Dexter: Resurrection started on April 13th, as announced by writer Scott Reynolds on X. The series is being filmed at Sunset Pier 94 Studios in Manhattan—making it the first show to be produced there—but an exact release date hasn’t been announced. However, creator Clyde Phillips shared that the new season will likely debut on Paramount+ in October 2026. The second season will consist of 10 episodes, with Scott Reynolds returning as a writer and Marcos Siega directing.

Season one of Dexter: Resurrection is available to stream on Paramount+.
