The official trailer for Charli XCX’s tour documentary, The Moment, was released on December 11th, offering a first extended look at the film. The documentary, conceived by Charli XCX herself, portrays a slightly fictionalized version of the artist struggling to keep pace with the demands of her career. Kylie Jenner appears in the trailer, advising Charli to push even harder when her popularity starts to wane. Much of the humor comes from Alexander Skarsgård, who plays a clueless show director. In one scene, he’s told Charli is singing about cocaine and asks if it’s literal or metaphorical, prompting the assistant to jokingly ask, “What’s metaphorical cocaine?” The trailer culminates in a chaotic scene where Skarsgård places Charli inside a giant, flaming lighter, even as she questions why she’s inside a burning object. The lighter then explodes.
Alongside Charli and Alexander Skarsgård, The Moment features Rosanna Arquette as a tough record label manager and Hailey Benton Gates as Charli’s assistant. Jamie Demetriou (known for Fleabag), Kate Berlant, and Rachel Sennott also star. Aidan Zamiri directed the film, which will premiere at the Sundance Film Festival on January 27, 2026, before being released nationwide on January 30. Let’s quickly check the equipment and run through a line of dialogue.
