A champagne company is turning graduation tradition into a full-on drinking accessory.
André California Champagne has introduced a new graduation cap called the “No Cap Grad Cap.” It’s designed to hold a drink, allowing students to celebrate right from their seats during graduation ceremonies.
This graduation cap builds on a popular trend of students decorating their mortarboards. But instead of just looking different, this cap does something extra: it has a built-in straw and two hidden compartments—one for champagne and one for juice—making it a portable mimosa holder.
The idea is to keep the celebration going long after the graduation ceremony ends, and the brand is framing graduation itself as the start of an exciting new chapter.
André unveils graduation cap with alcohol compartments
According to Marshall Dawson, VP of Marketing at Gallo (the company behind André), graduation is a time for celebration and personal expression. André saw a chance to capture that celebratory spirit – from decorated graduation caps to celebratory toasts with friends – and offer something unique to enhance the moment.
André is holding a national sweepstakes to boost product awareness, aimed at graduates age 21 and up. Running from April 27th to May 11th, people can enter by taking a quick quiz about what goes into a mimosa.

To help graduates celebrate, fifty winners will each receive a No Cap Grad Cap and a $50 payment through Venmo.
Although the product is meant to be enjoyable, it’s unclear whether it could actually be used in formal events, as those often have rules against alcohol.
This product seems designed for people who are 21 or older, like recent college graduates or those who finished high school a bit later, due to the drinking age in the US. However, it could also be useful for younger adults in countries where the drinking age is different.
