As a seasoned crypto investor with experience in following the developments of various blockchain projects, I’m excited about the recent vote by the Celo community to adopt Optimism’s OP Stack technology for their transition to a layer-2 network on Ethereum. The overwhelming support from the CELO token holders is a clear sign of confidence in this decision.
On Friday, the Celo community made the decision to adopt Optimism’s OP Stack technology for transitioning their independent blockchain onto Ethereum‘s layer-2 network.
On May 3, the proposal for a vote received strong endorsement, as it gained the affirmation of 65 addresses, equating to approximately 14.6 million CELO tokens. Two other addresses with around 20,484 CELO tokens chose to abstain from the decision.
For several months, the developer meticulously examined diverse stack options from numerous layer-2 projects to identify which one would be the most suitable match for Celo. This selection process took on an unprecedented public and intense scrutiny – reminiscent of a captivating reality TV show like The Bachelorette in the blockchain realm.
Arbitrum Orbit, zkSync, and Polygon CDK joined the competition by proposing their technologies to Celo.
Ultimately, the Celo team ended up right where they began.
