Todd Howard, the game director, recently shared that The Elder Scrolls 6 will feature significantly more trees than Skyrim. He also described the new game as a traditional Bethesda RPG, built on the foundation of what Bethesda Game Studios does best.
We might finally start hearing more about the next Elder Scrolls game soon, or maybe not. But at least Todd Howard is now openly talking about it without avoiding the question of how long it’s been in development. His recent comments offer a small glimpse into the game’s design, and while it’s not much, it’s good to get any update at all.
This side quest has some really great rewards, but it’s designed for players who have already reached the end of the game. If you’re still in the middle of the game, you won’t be able to start it. The good news is the quest is always available, so you can complete it whenever you’re ready.
Starting in February 2026, the development team finally began to reveal more about The Elder Scrolls 6, a game that had been shrouded in secrecy for a long time. The initial teaser from 2018 only showed a glimpse of the coastline and the game’s title, and fans have been asking for updates ever since.
Meanwhile, Valheim really raised the bar for survival RPGs. It took the familiar elements of the genre and added a fresh, enjoyable experience, especially when playing with friends, all set in a beautiful and popular Nordic-inspired world. Several new games have appeared since Valheim, and while they aren’t direct copies, they clearly take a lot of ideas from it.
As a big fan of Obsidian, it’s been amazing to see everything they’ve been up to since Microsoft acquired them back in 2018! They’ve consistently released fantastic games like The Outer Worlds, Grounded, and Pentiment. Even while still updating Grounded 2, they’ve been hard at work on Avowed, a new RPG set in the world of Pillars of Eternity. Avowed actually launched really well – especially on Steam, and seemed to sell as expected – but Obsidian didn’t stop there! They kept improving it, and recently celebrated its first anniversary with a huge new update, which is awesome to see.
I was so excited when Avowed finally came out last February on Xbox Series X|S and PC! Now, it’s finally on PS5 too, which is awesome! And the best part? They’ve dropped the price on all platforms! You can get the Standard Edition for $49.99, or if you want a little extra, the Deluxe Edition is $59.99. The Deluxe Edition comes with a digital artbook, the soundtrack, some cool player armor, and even skins for your companions. After a period of updates, the game is almost here on PS5, though its release has been quiet. Microsoft has also lowered the price from a confusing $70 to $50. With the recent Anniversary Update, now seems like a good time to jump in – but whether it is depends on your preferences.
It looks like we’ll have to wait a while for The Elder Scrolls 6 – probably not until 2028, and even 2027 is optimistic. While that’s frustrating, it does give Bethesda time to make the game as good as possible. However, Starfield also took a long time to develop, and it still had some of the same issues that fans have become critical of in Bethesda games.
