Top Chef Recap: Appalachia Drama

While Sieger’s surprising move was a highlight, it’s not the sole reason I’m giving this week’s “Appalachian Celebration” episode four out of five stars. After last week’s disappointing challenges and the show’s odd way of celebrating Greenville – which, as one viewer pointed out, didn’t acknowledge the history of the Unity Park area – this episode felt like Top Chef really got Asheville right. The episode powerfully showed the devastating impact of Hurricane Helene in 2024 and how local restaurant owners stepped up to feed those in need. I wish the chefs and the community organizations they worked with had received a bit more recognition, but overall, this episode felt like Top Chef truly focused on the Carolinas and shared something meaningful about the states that many viewers might not have known. Well done to the Top Chef producers.

Below Deck Down Under Recap: The Path of Most Resistance

This week’s episode explores what truly makes a job excellent, beyond just meeting the basic requirements. What distinguishes acceptable work from truly outstanding service? For example, simply serving fish is the minimum expectation, while expertly deboning it for guests goes above and beyond. Ben’s insistence on serving fish with bones, believing servers should be able to filet it at the table, is puzzling. He even criticized Daisy for not knowing how! It’s strange Ellie didn’t offer to help if it was so easy. Later, Jason gently pointed out the service was a little slow, but he didn’t dwell on it since the fish itself was delicious, despite the presentation issues.

How Jesse Solomon Discovered Amanda Batula, West Wilson Romance

Jesse Solomon was really surprised when Amanda Batula and West Wilson revealed they were dating on Summer House, because they had both assured him just the day before that the rumors weren’t true. He said he was “shocked” and viewers will see his reaction during the reunion episode. According to Solomon, both Batula and Wilson … Read more

Neflix Finally Adding Final Season of Sci-Fi Series Canceled Too Soon

Netflix announced its June lineup, including the final season of Resident Alien. Season 4, which concludes the series, will be available on Netflix starting June 6th. All four seasons are on Peacock, but Netflix subscribers can currently watch the first three, and now binge the last season.

Apple TV’s 2-Part Sci-Fi Show Made A Near-Perfect Franchise Even Better

Apple TV has one science fiction show that connects to a well-known movie series: the Monsterverse. Legendary’s Monsterverse, featuring films like the 2014 Godzilla and Godzilla vs. Kong, has already proven to be a successful franchise. In many ways, it’s nearly flawless – the films are both critically acclaimed and financially successful, with very few weaknesses.

George R.R. Martin’s Sci-Fi Horror Series Deserved More Than A 10-Episode Run

George R.R. Martin is known for his fantasy writing, including the world of Game of Thrones, but he’s also worked on other projects. One example is Nightflyers, a science fiction horror story he originally published as a short story in 1980 and then as a longer novella in 1981. It was made into a film in 1987, which Martin helped write, and later became a TV series in 2018, where he was an executive producer.

FX’s 3-Part Sci-Fi Masterpiece Series Gets Even Better On A Rewatch

As a huge sci-fi fan, I have to say that one of the best shows FX has ever done is this superhero series based on Marvel characters, even though it exists completely outside of the main Marvel Cinematic Universe. It’s called Legion, and it centers around David Haller – you might know him as Legion, Charles Xavier’s son. He’s incredibly powerful psychically, but here’s the really interesting part: David also has dissociative identity disorder. Basically, he has multiple personalities, and that’s actually where his superhero name comes from – it’s a core part of who he is and his powers.

Tombstone’s Real Best Quote Is Not Val Kilmer’s “I’m Your Huckleberry”

The movie Tombstone is famous for its memorable lines, and much of that credit goes to Val Kilmer’s performance as Doc Holliday. It’s not just what Doc says, but how he delivers his lines that makes them so great. For example, he famously says, “Why Johnny Ringo, you look like somebody just walked over your grave,” and, “Oh. Johnny [Taylor], I apologize. I forgot you were there. You may go now.” Doc is a Western character who truly knows how to command a room with his words. While “I’m your huckleberry” is very well-known, it might not actually be his most impressive line.
