Black Ops 6’s Nuketown is missing a 14-year-old fan-favorite feature

As a gamer with over two decades of Call of Duty under my belt, I must say, the return of Nuketown in Black Ops 6 was a much-anticipated event. However, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of nostalgic disappointment when I realized that the mannequin Easter egg tradition has been abandoned.

Players have enthusiastically welcomed back Nuketown in Black Ops 6, yet it’s worth noting that the revamped version breaks away from a long-standing tradition that all previous iterations have adhered to.

Among the legendary Call of Duty maps, none are as instantly recognizable as Nuketown. Originating from Black Ops 1, this compact nuclear testing ground has since gained immense popularity among players and is now a hallmark of the series.

Since its introduction by Treyarch in their game development, the map has been a consistent feature. Ranging from the futuristic transformations seen in Black Ops 2 and Black Ops 3, to the snowy adaptation in Black Ops 4, each version sports a unique appearance. However, despite these visual differences, they all share one common characteristic – the presence of the mannequin Easter egg.

Each version of Nuketown grants players rewards when they successfully decapitate all mannequins within a specified time frame. In the original Black Ops, this action triggered the song “Sympathy for the Devil” by The Rolling Stones, while in Black Ops 4, a rocket would be launched from the map’s center instead.

Without a doubt, eager fans were looking forward to discovering the new twist on Nuketown in Black Ops 6. Yet, at this moment, it seems there’s no Mannequin Easter egg hidden away.

Black Ops 6’s Nuketown is missing a 14-year-old fan-favorite feature

As a nostalgic gamer, I can tell you that the Nuketown from BO6 is the classic, time-honored version we all know and love from 2010. It’s been polished up and given an update to blend seamlessly with the other fresh maps in terms of graphics. However, despite its revamp, it seems like the first Easter egg, the one associated with the Rolling Stones song, doesn’t seem to be functioning as expected when we tried it out.

As a fervent observer, it seems that some mannequins, such as those seated on the bus marked in the center of the map, are invincible to gunfire. Despite the fact that the windows can be shattered, any bullets aimed at the vehicle seem to have no effect, leaving the plastic figures undamaged.

At the moment, it’s uncertain whether there’s an issue (bug) or if no Easter egg is active in Black Ops 6’s Nuketown. However, it might be that a hidden feature is still waiting to be discovered, but the developers have subtly adjusted things to keep players intrigued.

Currently, our hunt for more continues, but should multiplayer be your preference over Easter egg searches, here’s a rundown of top loadout choices for Nuketown.
