Best Abilities to Use in Kiln

Kiln is a fascinating multiplayer game where you craft clay pots and fight in ceramic arenas to destroy your opponent’s kiln. It’s different from other player-versus-player games thanks to its imaginative design and original gameplay.

As you make pots, you’ll notice they each have unique powers. Some are decent, but a few are particularly strong and helpful when fighting.

In Kiln, your character’s skills let you do powerful things like defeat enemies, poison the battlefield, or build a defensive tower. Here’s a look at the most effective abilities to focus on when customizing your pot.

10. Drill

Dig and Strike

As someone who loves quick, nimble pots, I’m really excited about being able to craft jugs! See, smaller pots don’t usually have a ton of health, so they can get wrecked pretty easily in a fight. This will really help!

The Drill ability is useful because it lets you dig underground to avoid enemies and move around them. You can either explode out of the ground to hurt nearby opponents, or use it to sneak into enemy territory.

We cleverly used our Drill ability to sneak past distracted enemies and quickly reach their kiln, where we extinguished the fire with water. It’s a simple tactic, but it was very effective.

9. Cactus

Pins and Needles

If you’re looking to build a powerful weapon to defeat your enemies, the Cactus ability will help you in battle. It’s a fairly common ability, but it’s a reliable way to either destroy opponents or force them to retreat.

This skill causes a cactus to grow from your pot and then quickly slam downwards in front of you, scattering needles. This initial attack deals significant damage, and the remaining needles create a hazard that forces enemies to retreat.

This skill is perfect whether you prefer to be right in the thick of things, or prefer a more defensive, support role.

8. Stunning Bullhorn

Stun Them Into Silence

Even though the fights are only four versus four, they can quickly become chaotic, particularly when the whole enemy team focuses on attacking your kiln. That’s when the Stunning Bullhorn ability can be incredibly helpful.

This power can be built up to create an area-of-effect cone. Enemies caught inside this cone will be briefly stunned, allowing you to attack them safely.

This skill is really useful for both teamwork and getting away from danger when you’re hurt. It’s a valuable asset in any situation.

7. Slowing Hourglass

Make Time Stop

Many games feature the ability to control time, and in Kiln, this power can be quite strong. The ‘Slowing Hourglass’ skill creates an area where enemies move and act much slower if they are caught within it.

The area of effect isn’t huge, but it can trap a couple of smaller enemies or one big one. Once inside, they’re pretty much defenseless, letting you and your team attack them freely.

This ability lets you quickly defeat enemies who are trying to flee. It’s granted to chalices of medium size.

6. Dynamite Toss

Kaboom

Smaller pots are often weak and don’t deal much damage because they’re fragile. However, if you prioritize health, you can create a bottle that uses the powerful Dynamite Toss ability.

This powerful move lets you quickly launch yourself towards enemies, creating an explosion on impact. It often catches opponents off guard, forcing them to adjust their strategy.

This skill can turn the tables in a fight against multiple enemies near your kiln, or it can be a powerful move to help your team advance and attack the enemy’s kiln.

5. Morningstar

A Devastating Slam

Morningstar is a powerful attack ability players can unlock by crafting a vase. It’s a medium-level skill that’s considered one of the strongest attacks in the game.

Okay, so this ability, Morningstar, is seriously cool. Basically, I can transform my cauldron into this massive morning star that comes crashing down. It doesn’t cover a huge area, but anything caught under it… well, let’s just say those poor pots don’t stand a chance. It absolutely destroys them!

You’ll just need to finish off any remaining health on players who survived the initial attack.

4. Storm Hammer

The Might of Thor

Want to wield the power of Thor? Then try creating a large pot and reshaping it into a cup – doing so will unlock the Storm Hammer ability for you.

This move functions much like Morningstar, letting you powerfully swing downwards and damage enemies in its path. However, because your pot is larger, it covers a wider area, making it more effective.

The drawback is that creating this pot weakens it significantly – you trade health for its carrying capacity. Despite this, the pot will be a huge help overall.

3. Witch’s Brew

Poison the Ground

If you prefer a defensive playstyle and like to protect your base, the Witch’s Brew ability could be a great choice. It’s designed to help you hold off several attackers at once.

Witch’s Brew creates a hazardous zone on the ground that both slows enemies and deals damage over time. Its large area of effect can effectively shield the front of your base.

This area-of-effect attack prevents enemies from using their special splash ability and slows them down, making them easy targets for your powerful attacks. It also deals damage over time, either quickly defeating them or forcing them to retreat.

2. Fight Cloud

Don’t Talk About It

You’ve built a small, simple spaceship, and it’s ready to battle! Send it to the ceramic arena to compete against other ships. Don’t worry that many opponents are bigger – your ship has a special ability called Fight Cloud that will help it compete.

As a player, I love Fight Cloud! Basically, you can throw your pot at other players, and it starts a little fight that keeps dealing damage over time. It’s awesome for distracting people – while they’re dealing with your pot, your teammates can sneak past and attack their kiln!

The Fight Cloud skill can be really useful, but you need to actively engage in combat and damage enemy plants for it to work. Otherwise, it won’t have any effect.

1. Chicken Turret

Automated Eggs

Looking for a simple, effective ability? Chicken Turret is perfect. It lets you place a chicken-shaped turret that automatically attacks nearby enemies with eggs.

This power-up stays active for a good amount of time, but can be ended if someone destroys it. You can easily set up another one after that. It works well in many areas, like on the high platforms of the music-themed map.

This lets the turret shoot eggs at opponents who are collecting water and therefore can’t attack it directly. This feature is particularly effective and makes the turret a top choice for players.
