At This Point, the Next James Bond Is Probably a Baby

CinemaCon feels like it’s always going on, with a constant stream of news, announcements, and sneak peeks – this year included lots of talk about Jeremy Strong’s portrayal of Mark Zuckerberg. However, one thing that wasn’t revealed at CinemaCon is who will be the next James Bond. While Amazon has brought on Denis Villeneuve (of Dune) to direct and Steven Knight (Peaky Blinders) to write the next film, they still haven’t announced who will play 007. It’s been a long wait, and honestly, at this point, the next James Bond is likely still a very young child!

Courtenay Valenti, who leads film at Amazon MGM Studios, says they’re being very careful and respectful as they search for the next James Bond. But honestly, that usually means they’re taking a long time! We’ve already seen potential candidates like Idris Elba and Aaron Taylor-Johnson become too old for the role, and it looks like that might keep happening. The chance of getting a Dua Lipa theme song with her fiancé, Callum Turner, as Bond is slipping away. Now there’s talk of 22-year-old Louis Partridge, but if Amazon and MGM wait much longer, even he might be too old. Imagine if Partridge is 25, or even 29, and still hasn’t been cast! They’d have to start the search all over again. At this rate, they might as well look for babies in British hospitals – someone literally born to play Bond. If they’re going to be this slow, they should at least find someone perfectly suited for the role from the very beginning.
