A popular Mac application that makes a sound when you tap your laptop has quickly gained attention online. Its creator says they earned thousands of dollars within just a few days of releasing it.
Apps have become essential for both simplifying daily tasks and keeping us entertained. SlapMac aims to provide that entertainment, though it might also make you wonder how you’ve spent your time up until now.
SlapMac turns your MacBook into a soundboard by using its built-in motion sensors. When you hit your MacBook, it plays different sound effects.
You can customize your Mac with eight different sound packs. These packs let you assign funny noises to actions like getting hit, punching, or… well, even farting!
Moaning MacBook app goes viral
The creator of the ‘MacBook Moan’ sound effect says it was quick to develop, and they were amazed by its popularity.
The developer shared on Reddit that they created and launched a Swift app, complete with a landing page and licensing, in just 48 hours. They priced it at $5, and sales began immediately and have continued ever since.
The app has already earned an impressive $5,000 in just three days – a great start! The developer has also included some fun new features, such as “USB Moaner,” which makes a sound effect whenever you connect a device via USB.

The app even includes a built-in cooldown timer – because everyone needs a rest! – and you can adjust how sensitive it is to help avoid accidental, repeated tapping. Plus, if you’re curious, it keeps a running total of all the times you’ve ‘slapped’ your MacBook.
If you’re curious about SlapMac and don’t mind potentially questioning your decisions, you can visit their official website. Just be aware – it might change how you see your MacBook forever.
