The legal battle between Blake Lively’s Wayfarer Studios and Justin Baldoni (director and star of It Ends With Us) is still ongoing, with no settlement in sight. Some thought Baldoni and his partner, Jamey Heath, might be seeking a large sum of money by pursuing their defamation claim, hoping to keep the issue quiet. However, the case is moving forward toward a March 2026 court date, and now a new person is involved: Rainn Wilson, known from The Office. He wasn’t involved in the movie itself, but apparently he’s friends with Baldoni and received a text message complaining about Ryan Reynolds.
According to court documents obtained by People magazine, Baldoni wrote to Wilson after a tense argument with Reynolds and Lively in January 2024. Baldoni claimed Reynolds spoke to him condescendingly, like he was a child. They also allegedly told him and Jamey Heath that their public personas were misleading and that having a podcast created a false sense of security for listeners. Apparently, Reynolds (and possibly Lively) believe Baldoni’s podcast about masculinity makes people think he’s a trustworthy person, which they consider dangerous. It’s ironic to think someone’s safety could be affected by whether or not a person hosts a podcast – you might even hear about yourself on one!
It’s still unclear if Wilson will testify in court, and his messages weren’t included in the latest documents released. He might not have even replied to Baldoni’s urgent texts. Ultimately, this situation highlights how poorly qualified people are being considered – simply having a podcast shouldn’t be the deciding factor.
